The reason I'm doing soil is 1. The compost is fresh from horse farm. 2. It's free. 3. It's what I use to grow mushies. By my calcs if the pot is a foot tall that leaves me with a maximum height of a 4 foot plant so since it's my first grow I think switching cycles at 2 foot.
Btw the feminized seeds i have i got from a sample pack. They are
1. AMS by greenhouse x2
2. Arjan's Haze #3 also by greenhouse x2
3. Red Diesel by barney's Farm x2
4. Purple Bud by white label x2
any idea what the best 2 would be to grow together?

I don't know any of those strains. 2' tall is a bit tall for some plants. If you top at say 5" and branch out sideways you'll be under a foot easy before you start to flower. Gotta play around.

Goodluck on your compost. I have no experience with it so I can't help in that regard. You might need to treat it or ammend it with some stuff before it works out.
