Hippie buckets? (I need help being pointed towards a tek/tut)
    #755665 - 11/02/14 09:30 AM (9 years, 4 months ago)

So, I bought a tent/light/ballast and a slew of other random equipment from a gent here yesterday and he also gave me a large number of 5 gallon buckets with a hole in the side towards the bottom of the bucket fixed to a sediment filter and smaller (what look like) dish-washing basins.

He explained that he used the "hippie bucket" method and it sounded like I put perlite and the plant into the bucket, but the bucket into the basin, and water from the top as to keep a reservoir of water at the bottom in the basin.

Does this sound similar to any methods you dudes use?
I have looked up every damn combination of 'hippie bucket' in google that I can think of and I'm leaning towards thinking that there's another, more common, name for this method.

I didn't get much guidance from the guy, if he was less stoned I would have tried to get more information from him- but he kept mixing up words and correcting himself so I was just confused the whole time.
