seasoning ideas
    #732626 - 05/22/14 12:02 PM (9 years, 10 months ago)

I have some ground beef and some ribeye steaks I'm going to throw on the grill this weekend.

Any suggestions on how to prepare/ season?

Anything, google a baste recipe.

I like the 5 minute one I do.

Garlic cloves, lemon, pepper, salt, olive oil, and Worcestershire

Salt pepper garlic, top off with butter and a mushroom sauce. Roast a bulb of garlic and spread that shit on finished product before topping with shroom sauce. :highfive:

Steak needs nothing besides salt and pepper. Please don't ruin those ribeyes.

That's what blood is for. Only way I'd baste a steak is if I ate it well done...but I prefer to not ruin my steaks.

I'm adding a bit a salt and pepper and cooking it to med rare... I also grabbed some pre seasoned chicken legs, polish kilobasa sausage, and some boudin sausage.

I like to mash a couple garlic cloves into the steak before I cook it.

Make a good dry rub, cover the ribs generously, wrap in saran wrap and let them sit in the fridge over night (make sure you peel off the membrane before you apply rub).

I'd recommend smoking them at around 225-250 for 6 hours or so (apple and/or cherry wood) if you have a smoker, spraying every couple hours with apple juice. If not wrap them in foil and cook them in the oven around that same temp. Do not apply bbq sauce until the last 20 minutes or so or the sugar in it will caramelize.

You can make them at high temps on a regular grill too but its hard to get them fall-off-the-bone tender on a grill without burning them...it can be done though.

This is the dry rub I make:

1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup table salt
1/8 cup brown sugar, dried
4 teaspoons chili powder
2 teaspoons ground cumin
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
