Seriously what happened. I made the mistake of listening to the radio today and some horrible song by "Big Sean". Autotune. Horrible word play. I can't listen to todays artists even kendrick sucks IMO.

Raps been dead for awhile
I missed growing up with Fabulous, Eminem, Nas, and Jay-Z before he sold out
Meek Mills is the only decent new rapper imo. Maybe 1 or 2 others but not many

I was using a friend's car for a while and the radio was stuck on the local hip hop station. The only thing worth listening to where ads. Nothing quite as funny as some ghetto sounding dj talking about how I should "get my sleep on" at Sleep Train with zero percent financin'.

Minneapolis actually has a pretty good underground hip/hop scene. I actually used to hate rap/hip hop until I got into some local shit.

My wife when she was a teenager used to listen to ICP and Twiztid and all that psychopathic shit. I even listened to ICP abit when I was like 15, but gawd I hate it now. I can't stand the shit and neither can she. I mean there might be like one song on each album I can listen to, but that's being nice.lol.
One new rapper that grinds my gears is Lil Wayne. He sounds ridiculous and he cant even rhyme and make sense. I admit I am not a big rap fan at all, the only rap I like is stuff like Wiz Khalifa (some of it), Eazy E, Snoop, Bone thugs, and a couple of the gangsta rappers from the early 90s. It does get pretty old quick, but its fun every once in awhile.
Oh and again Fuck ICP. Cannot stand juggalos, they are a special kind of special. Sorry if there are any fans on here, but to each his own man.

Don't get me wrong, I know my fair share of good hip-hop. I have plenty of music, just whats mainstream now disgusts me. I can not staaaand kendrick or wiz' bitch ass.
Kudi fell off after his first couple albums. Wzrd was absolute shit.
The "drinking in the club" gets old way faster than gangster rap.
So does any rapper that writes lyrics such as " I'm so blank call me blank". THAT IS NOT FUCKING WORD PLAY

Juggalos. ewww lol used to buy a lot of xanax and klonopin from a few juggalos in highschool (of course parents don't want to deal with them so they just throw scripts at them) And I fucking HATED going over there to there place to get my shit. They'd always pull the "oh hey just chill for a bit and listen to our shitty music while smoking our shitty weed before I sell you drugs" UGHH, I hated that so much.

MF DOOM and Madlib and the rest of Stones Throw records are putting out the jams now days.
The closest thing to tolerable I've heard outside of some obscure shit is a dude by the name Fat Trel. His tracks are REALLY hit or miss, but the good ones have a nice feel to them.

If your going to sit here and tell me Kendricks Lamar isn't good? The dude is incredibly versatile with such little material. And that drake isn't good, what a great lyricist and versatile rapper and that Lil Wayne isn't good, then your simply irrelevant. First off Lil Wayne doesn't write, he goes into the studio like jay-z with nothing written. If you know anything about recording music, you would realize this is very professional of him. You for example cannot do this. A lot of his content is annoying but he has good lines now and then.
I used to hate on Lil Wayne, but I recognize he does have some skill, sure, he is No big L, sure, he is no Eminem. And sure, he isn't the best rapper and won't ever be, but don't sit here and tell me he has no skill whatsoever, also, I don't know a rapper who hasn't claimed to be this and that, it's a part of the game.

But I cant stand Lil Wayne any more. I liked him when I was in high school and quickly grew out of him. He just has a very childish style of rap to me

I'll agree to disagree man. I respect your aspect of him, but I just can't get down with it.
As for being stuck in the 90s, you're right. I hate to say it but I am extremely cynical when it comes to new shit (music and tv). I loved the stuff I grew up with like beavis and butthead, rocko, ren and stimpy, etc. Same goes for music, besides reggae I have a hard time listening to new bands. By the time I finally give a band a chance they have already been popular for like 3 to 5 years.
Maybe its a bad thing, but I just cant find the artistic merit in people like Bieber, Gaga, and the like. As for drake, I give it up for anyone who can rap and rhyme just for the simple fact I could never come up with shit off the top of my head like that, however I find people like Krazie Bone, Bizzy, Twista, NWA, Wu Tang, and the like to be far superior in the way they intertwine the lyrics and melodies.
Just my 2 cents man, but hey nothing but love, listen to whatever gets your head moving!

Yup I saw him live too, he was at a local festival that was mainly local underground scene, and as soon as he went on stage the crowd cleared out

I'll agree with dude that Big L was pretty dope. I'm not as much into the violent type gangster rap as I am the more poetic hip hop, but that dude had some pretty mad rhyme skills.
That being said, I guarantee even my white ass could out freestyle Drake and Weezy at the same time. Seriously, someone tell them I wanna battle

Bunch of people don't like eminem I guess it's his style. For example, "Like Toy Soldiers" was fucking genius, "Stan", his long lines that never break flow to me is incredible, his ability to rap fast and keep up with anyone and still be able to understand him without having to rewind his shit 12 times to me is talent, his ability to tell a story throughout a song and keep me entertained is something I have come to love from him.
It's one of those you either like it or don't I guess, I think it's brilliant.
The metaphors and shit every rappers use today with those one liners just don't do it for me...I can sit here and compare shit all day and I have to believe I would eventually come up with some good ones, I just don't sound like a nigger so I couldn't make it. But Eminem is one of a kind in my opinion.
I'm not saying he's my favorite or the best, but he would be top 10, top 5 probably I'm just writing this high so I already forgot what I said.

Yea he went mainstream, I can't blame him completely, you have to do what you have to do to sell records. You can call it selling out I guess but to me it's all about making money. He still did stuff throughout like his album "The Re-Up", his with Royce 5'9, his Mariah diss, and so on that stuck with his older stuff, but I agree with what you are saying.
