How far along are you? I was looking into NFT but heard it wasn't as good for bud, how do you like it? Looks pretty good.

I just picked up a 24 site aerojet, can't wait to get it running. Hey normal does your system feed 24/7 or is it on a timer? My system came with a 1 min on 4 min off fixed cycle timer.

Cool, hey what brand of LED you using? Are you noticing any differences between the LED side and HPS side? I've been thinking of switching, but there still more expensive than HID's atm to cover the same area, and am not sure if its worth the extra investment.
Just got my new tent sent up today, a 4.5x9x7, things massive and barely fits into my room, though i got alot of space now to work with. My aerojet fits perfectly into 1 half of it.. heres a pic..
Obviously not fully assembled yet, just needed to check spacing.

I'm not sure the brand led. I got it used from a buddy for around $250 think i over paid. I can tell the 400hps side is doing a little better than the led side. If it were me i wouldn't invest in led unless u make your own pannels. Also that is a very sweet system i can't wait to see your grow. What light are u thinkin about using with it? What brand tent is that i'm lookin for a tent around that size and how much did u pay for it? I think next grow i wanna do 1/2 the plants and scrog.

I'm going to be using my 1000w Lumatek Ballast&bulb with a silverstar 4XL hood, if you look in my current journal its being used right now with my 18 site dwc table and 5x5x7 tent, just sold the table and tent to my friend who is housing our current grow to help pay for my new setup. I bought a cheaper tent this time around couldn't afford the $400 for a secret jardin 4x8x7, i found a the 4.5x9x7 tent for $249, was skeptical of what the quality was going to be like, but it seems good quality and well worth what they were charging. heres the link to where i got it...tentlink its listed as a 4x8x7, but actual size is 4.5x9x7. They actually have even cheaper tents of the same size if you check out the site. Free shipping too if you live in Canada.

I got my 4x8 tent for $200 on ebay and its decent quality. Its very similar to the one you posted, maybe even the same. I like it except for the thread seam that broke on the door/zipper and the poles that need to be thicker. Mine are starting to bow but its not really a problem. That 600D cloth is good thickness. I have a smaller tent that was also very inexpensive that doesn't light seal around the zipper and a T5 4x4 fell against it and punched an L tear through the thinner fabric.

That looks like your standard generic light. Sometimes people know how to order them and get a good combo of different colors and know how to order the stuff (putting in a custom bulk order), but its pretty often that people just get what the Chinese want to put into it; two, three, spectrum, whatever diodes, you just never really know. I've yet to see that really kick ass generic Chinese LED growlog.
What I try and tell people is that right now it is best to order from a company based in the U.S who are basically developing a working grow light, as well as keeping tabs on quality. You have to pay more for the light, but they're providing a valuable service. They buy the more expensive parts, the guy has no problem putting them in. But if you expect him to put the best quality, highest priced diodes in a light he's trying to mass produce and no one's really quality checking then your severely mistaken.
And even a lot of companies importing them are still trying to go cheap because they are an expensive investment, there's a few hundred diodes per light at $1-5 each and they go up in price the higher "bin" or quality/efficiency rating. Now try and think of a wholesaler trying to stock every hydro store in the country with an LED... the quality is just going to cost too damn much for them to get the quality parts in a market that is still in its infancy. If the price of diodes goes up $1 each its millions of dollars more they're needing to invest in these lights. Overhead is a bitch, and its harder to sell a $1000 LED sitting next to a $150 HID package. Sure they might work alright but I don't see anything good about lights from hydro stores or similar web-hydro stores.
A few companies out there are making good lights. I'm a fan of the Advanced LED Diamond series (specifically the DS400 for a 2x4 area) from experience using them, but there are a few other companies that look like they're producing good lights, such as GrowBlu, BlackDog, California Light Works, and maybe one or two more. The important thing is that you do some solid research before you buy your LED's. Right now the market is such that it is an investment. LED's are somewhat application specific, so the different brands offer different footprints and penetration vs coverage which determines which is the best method, usually LST/topping where you spread the canopy out, but some lights will support larger single cola plants. READ UP BEFORE YOU BUY! There's lots of hype and bullshit advertisement around LED's, don't buy into it.
LED technology is doubling faster than processors right now, they're coming out with more powerful diodes all the time, its just a matter of time and someone putting them in a grow light.
Here is my current setup, I was a little disappointed because they kinda stretched from lack of lights in the beginning, no fan either, but the bud are still filling out since the start of PK week. This is from day 29 when I added a few more lights. Six plants in 5gal coco coir.
Oh, and your light might not be total garbage, just not the best. I bet it would make a really kick ass veg light or filler for if you wanted to overload some plants with light. It looks like its doing decent.

Tents are great; I recommend them to everyone over a closet conversion. You can control the airflow from one side to the other and vent easier than most home made chambers. I just had a yearly apartment inspection, I have a 4x4 next to a 4x8 and they didn't say shit. I took down the fan and ducting and made sure it was dark and quiet. I've done this twice so far and last time I opened the 4x4 at the top and had a bunch of clothes hanging, showing it as an elaborate wardrobe closet--plants vegging below/behind and all.
Keep your carbon fan on at all times, I had a cop who was investigating a potential ID theft tell me he could smell my plants. And it was true, I could smell the dank a hundred feet away easy. I had a new controller that I was using that only runs the fan for temp/humidity, but not able to do continuous low--something every fan temp/humidity controller needs but none have.

phychotron your totally right in everything you just posted, imo. I will say this about tent quality, from my experience secret jardin is best when it come to $ vs value. if i could have afforded the 4x8x7 from SJ i would have bought it, already have 2 of their tents and they rock(smaller sizes, 2x2 and 5x5). But i have to say the $249 i spent on this new tent is more than worth it for my needs. I found much cheaper on Ebay, that where approx. the same size/price, but whenever i calculated shipping cost it ended up being $30-90 more.Thats why i bought this tent, cheaper and free shipping lol

if you need a little bigger tent for flower, the one i got from that site is the largest 4x8x7, approx., tent i found i can say after setting it up it is 4.5x8'11x7,(on the inside) even though they list it as a 4x8x7 footer.

Thanks WildBud. They are in need of a fresh nute change they have seemed to stop eating and ph has dropped. This is my first grow with this system. And i'm sure there is still alot to be learned. I probably will flush the system with PHed tap water for 10min then flush that and fill with fresh mix of nutes. Try and get some excess salts out of the system. I really like the gorilla grow tent if i can afford it i'll probably get one. They are like $800ish.

Just reading that writing says its kind of weird. "The original 224W" as if that's some special shit. It probably pulls 130 but could go with the full 224. Do you have a Kill-a-watt? The wattage draw and actual draw are one thing they like to bullshit you about. How many different color diodes can you see? How many diodes are there?
"LED illumination station professional series" sounds like engrish to me. Is it really a station?
I took that last post about LED's and expanded it in my Journal. I'm going to start compiling information in my journal.

I don't have a watts meter to test how much it really draws. I tried to do searches on it and can't find anything on it. I made a post lookin for info on it at icmag but nobody responded. The led light is pretty heavy none the less not sure if its a station pannel or what but it does work. From what i can tell there are like 2 or 3 different color leds in the station.

I hang out in the LED forums at icmag, there are some serious LED people over there, getting all crazy making their own panels and all up on the diodes as they're coming out and everything. Their forums are hard to navigate. No one said anything because its just a generic light.
It looks like the buds are good quality just not as full as the HID side. Hard to tell exactly whats going on in photos sometimes. Sometimes with those generic lights it takes extra time for the plants to mature by a few weeks. I think its due to the limited spectrum and wide angle lenses that spread the light out too much.
If you look at the lights you can see the four Blackstar fixtures look like they're extra bright, but they're projecting more light to the side and getting into the camera instead of on the plants. The DS's have the secondary optics that focus' everything to 90º for penetration. From what I can tell its better to have the penetration and more lights than one light that gives you a better spread--short plants can sometimes get away with it.
And as you can tell the generic does produce good bud, but not as much or as fast as you would like.
What are the dimensions of the grow area? Do you put up a reflective wall on the other side of the plants when your not taking photos?

yea i got reflective stuff on both sides grow. Area is around 2"x3.5". the system is like 7’L X 1’6”W X 22”H so its covering half that and the 400 for the other half. i'm thinkin next grow just cut out the led and do half as many plants in scrog with my 400

I'd say put the LED on the side and see what it can do to raise the production under the 400.

you should get a trellis setup to keep them standing. Be careful when harvesting based on pistil colour, some plants pistils will turn brown/red long before they are actually mature. You should get a decent jewelers loop or microscope, at least a 50x magnification, and harvest based on Tric colour.

What was the final weigh in? The LED side did alright considering its a generic light. It could have been one of the higher quality basic models from someone who actually did some research into designing it.
How do the buds compare? You can only tell so much from a photo, density not being one of them.

Sorry no final weigh in. I would say close to a qp maybe a litle over. Bud density was ok noting crazy. Probably the nices buds came from the middle that got both hps and led. I did end up getting a watt meter and the 224w led pulls a whoppin 164w.

I just use a glass extraction tube with screen and butane. I blast the butane into a jar that sits on a hot plate with water thats around 120f. I let the butane evap. Once thats done i add a little heat using a heat gun scrape it into a small ball and pretty much thats what i end up with. That ball isn't purged still has alot of butane in it but its easy to work with in that form not sure all the names there are so many.

great grow, do you feel that the aero20 bars are alittle close to each other or does it seem to work out good, it looks like in this grow it came out just fine, ive been eyeballing those systems and thats the only thing holding me back is that it looks like the plants would be very cramped together with the aero bars so close together

These types of systems are designed for small plants that max out at 2.5-3 feet tall. They work extremely well when you get a strains nutes and initial flower height dialed in. I prefer this method over large plants as the time from clone to fully flower is much shorter than doing months of veg and then flowering larger plants. Once i get my system dialed in i expect to crop 1.5-2 lbs(properly dried and cured weight) every 70 days from a 4.5 foot squared area. Basically i will get 5 full crops in a year when my friends who grow larger plants in coco will only get 1 complete grow and will maybe be 1/2 way into their second. Yet even with the higher yields from larger plants i will crop more over a year from the same amount of space. Quality is not any less from a small plant, just smaller buds. There's also the fact there is less work involved. Basically you just change the res once a week and check ppm,ph, and temps once a day and that's it.
