 $1000 dollar indoor growroom...need help please (my first post!)

I have about a 1000 dollar budget. I want to build this growroom in a inclosed cabinet or something i can build out of wood. I think 7ft high by 4ft wide and 6ft long. I wanted to get about a 600w HPS light with a air cooled reflector. I dont know how big my fan should be to cool this.
then I wouuld have a out take fan to vent to cabinet and i want to build i carbon scrubber to clean the air. I also dont know what kind or how big of a fan i need for that. Then i dont know if i should have a intake fan as well.
I also want to buy some sort of CO2 tank and regulator. but im confused on what kinda on/off cycles i should have the CO2 released and dont know if i can afford any kind of CO2 monitor or anything right now.
and as far as my hydro goes. I wanted to do a flood and drain setup. Dont know how many gallons i would need in my resvoir or how many plants. I thinking maybe 4 plants doing the SOG method.
Also, does anyone know a good website to order most of this stuff off of such as the light setup, pumps, fans, nutes.
Can anyone recommend a good TDS/PH tester?
please help so i can hurry up and order all of this stuff and get my grow built so i can post it in the grow log posts. lol
also can anyone suggest some good seeds. I was going for something with high yeild (1 gram/watt would be ideal) and something maybe purple or a different color than just lime green.

First off, don't forget to use your growery discount on RFV. Code is 420 or fourtwenty I forget.
You should decide weather ur gonna use ventilation or CO2 before shopping, the two don't work well together.
4x6 is 24 sq ft. You need a minimum of 1200 watts for that space, but if I was you I'd divide that room into 2. Then use a 400watt for veg and 600watt for flowering.
1000$ is more then reasonable. My best advice would be: if you want good results, go with the tried and true. Hid's, ff soil+nutes, no co2.

Ok. So if I supply good enough CO2 then ventilation isn't even.needed considering humidity and temperature is fine? I think.I definitely want to add CO2.but y'all are the experts.
And for the lights I realized that yesterday so I figured I'd build a flower box that is 3 by 5 feet.
My veg box will.most likely be fluorescent lights.

How will you get rid of the smell without a fan?
I couldn't see your shopping list, but if I was you I would get a 600watt hps ballast+reflector+bulb, 250 watt MH ballast+yadda+yadda, 2 4" inline fans, 1 4" carbon filter, fox farm ocean forest soil and 3 part nutients,
That's 90% of what you need $-wise. Around 800$ all together

Being you're a beginner.
I recommend avoiding the CO2, and go with mas air flow set.
Meaning you'll want good filters and a fan or fans capable of changing the air in the rooms greater than 3 times a minute.
I myself change at a rate of ten times a minute.

ok, im going to put my cabinet in a room by itself. Will the air conditioning unit supply enough FAE for my plants?

Well for starters you're going to want your filter off the floor, to pull the hot air out fromthe top of the room.
To find cubic foot, WxLxH=cubicfeet, you'll want 3 to 5 times that at least.
Fans are rated at cfm= cubic feet per minute.

3x5x7=105 cu ft. Technically you just need 315cfm+, but I would go at least 400 since you're gonna have to pull air through a filter.
As for veg, just get the cheapest 4" inline fan they got. I have a 240cfm one I got for 80$ and I never even use it on full.
P.S. you're gonna want to get a fan speed controller.

Man guys, yall are being extremely helpful. Sorry for all the questions. I just don't want to waste good money and do everything right.
Couple more questions if y'all can just bare with me.
1st. What about the fan that is taking heat away from my lights.. How big should that be?
2nd. When you say for my flowering i would need about a 400cfm? is that intake or out-take? I'm assuming its out-take. And if so, can i just use like a Y coupling in my vents to vent my flowering room and heat from my lights? Then push all that out-take air through my carbon scrubber?

Most likely a six to eight inch fan would work nice here. I'd run it straight thru, meaning fresh air in to hoods and back out never touching the air in the grow rooms itself.

Well you'll want to pull air thru the filer then out of the room/house. As for the Y thingie, I wouldn't go there, mainly because the filter won't work right unless you're moving the correct amount of air thru it.

No need for intake fans, with such an exhaust only an in take hole is needed, and air will be pulled thru it passively.

Also I went ahead and got a 1000 watt light bc it was cheaper than a 600 watt. IDK why. It just is. So I might make my flower room a little bigger. Also, the MH ballast i have is switchable and you can run either 250w/400w bulbs. So thats pretty cool. It was $180.00.
Also can yall make see if I got the right nutrients and testers. thanks guys. And is that pump big enough for the size reserver i need? How big of a reserver would i need?
Everything else that i would need that is not on this list i believe I can buy at local hardware stores.

Also, here is a plan I made for my Venting. I just don't know if it will work or how big of a fan I need to do it. Let me know if yall understand the drawing.
(A) is my outtake fan starting in the veg room. I will have a intake fan (B) in the flower room and a fan (D) in the middle of the room. Then from fan A, the old air from the room will be used to cool my lights and end up coming out my scrubber (E). What do yall think?
And if my calculations are correct, I would need a fan that is rated around 700CFM for my outtake (A). Does that sound right? Maybe my Fresh air intake fan (B) can be 100CFM and the fan (D) in the middle 50CFM.

I would never say vibrant, it may have a blue hue though. I always take what they say with a grain of salt man.

Pure Ak female seeds, is a nice strain very potent, and very nute sensitive, meaning best not to use any bloom boosters, and to keep a low ec around 0.8.
I grew out five of these, and don't plan on doing it again. But was a good producter, and potent as well.

Does it come calibrated pretty good when it first comes in? Id have to buy the calibrating solution as well huh. how often do these testers need to be calibrated?

UPDATE:
Alright guys, got some stuff collected here. My packages came in just as soon as i got home yesterday. Let me just list some things and then talk about what i got.
My light
My fan, the 4in 170cfm
These nutes my uncle got me at a local hydro store.
I saw this pump at lowes for 44 dolars. Will that work for my flood and drain setup? there are different sizes here. I dont know how big my resevoir should be for about 4 plants under a 600watt hps. Or how big of a pump i would need. what do yall think?
I also got some mylar and little other stuff for my pluming.
Ok so that light i got im going to have to see how i can vent it but i think ill be able to figure it out.
Those nutes there. Ive had them for about 2 years id say and 2 of them are sealed still but my friend opened one and used a very tiny amount on his plant that was in soil. Is it still good after being opened for 2 years? lol or should i just buy some more. Also is that good nutes to use? can yall suggest any other additives?
Im going to the hydro store this weekend to buy the rest of the stuff i need for this grow. I know im getting a 600w hps and a 750cfm fan for my outtake. Yeah im not in any way bad mouthing this company. Hell I didn't except 4 free seeds of different strains. I just sucks that I cant track my order after it reaches the USA. Unless im wrong? I think I got that e-mail that it reached the USA the same day I ordered which I believe was on the 10th. How long do yall recommend I wait before bring this to her attention?

Well guys, I got my package in today! Hellz yeah. All props to gorilla seeds. Although i have not opened up my package yet, I will after work and post pictures of how it came and its contents.

When i click on the below image, it says it has been deleted by me, but I have not deleted this imagine and would like to be able to in large it. Reason why I will state below. If anyone can help me fix me this, I would be in your debt.
So about my seeds. Got home and took a picture of the seeds before I opened them.
Then i took out the contents and took pictures.

I got what i paid for (my blue cheese and AK). However, I only got one extra freebe (which is awesome), White Widow. I did not get the king size papers, which I was looking forward too, lol, nor the 3 other free seeds. My order is the first imagine above which says i deleted....

Ok so im about to make the big trip for my final supplies so i figured i would write a little something to bump this up to the top and see if I cant get anymore advice id really appreciate it.
My main concern is really about my nutes. Im going to buy a PH meter and a EC meter and ive been doing a lot of research about how to use those tools and the effects I wrong PPM or PH.
If anyone can suggest what nutes are good and what othere additives I should get such as root boosters, stuff to keep my water clean, pest control stuff? ok ill be browsing the store in about 3 hours.
As always i will keep yall updated.

FF tri pack is good!! GH IS good ! I would get some cal/mag and some LK. Your going to need something to measure you nut too. I got this bad ass shot glass from hydro farm Has all the conversion's on it! The reason hawk said about your nut not to use was because there to old but they make good nut!

Sweet man. I've been reading about gerneral hydroponics and people do like them. I think they said the nova series was good. Ill just look.at what they got. Cal/mag I've read about but never about LK. I look for that.

Well I went ahead a got the nova series. I might have went over board but I got pretty much everything I need now. I did go over budget but its ok. This can be the 1500 dollar grow room.

welp, rolled back into town about a hour ago. Im so tired I think I can only muster up enough strength to roll a doob and give a quick update.
Let me start of with MAYYNNNNN. I went to go visit my uncle on the way back from getting my supplies. Well my uncles as been known to grow a little bit here and there. well I just saw the most plants I ever saw. He had an out door green house about 10 ft wide by 30 ft long which the most dankest plants ready for harvest. He was growing soil. I wanted to snap a picture but it was too dark by that time and i dont think my uncle would want me snapping photos of that anyways. But i did score some badass bud from him. He didnt know what strain it was, just a clone he got from a buddy. I did get a pic of that bud and i got an oz of it so ill be able to show you that.
As far as my setup goes. I got a 1000w air HPS. Air cooled reflector with scrubber. All my nutes. I bought that bluelab pen and a ph meter. I got a 720cfm 8in inline fan. Just to know a few things. I will post pictures of everything tomorrow. For now im going to try and finish this doobie before I pass out. goodnight growery and till tomorrow.

Idk if yall can tell but I got the GH flora nova series I think its called with the booster... I also got Calmag based on some advice I got, thanks man. and some root enhancer
I also got PH up and down that's not pictured.
I also did some testing with my PH and TDS meter. I tested my tap water. After reading and following all instructions, I tested the water I put in a plastic cup. I got a reading of 750PPM. I didn't think that was right. I then tested my tap water while it was running out of the facet, I got 250PPM.
After Calibrating my PH scale my tap water was at 7.8PH. lol. I think im going to have to buy some filtered water in those 5 gallon jugs. maybe have a 20 gallon reservoir.
So what do you guys think of all that shit I got.
Oh yeah, also bought a carbon scrubber.

Never went into hydro so can't help much with that
But a better solution to your water problems is a Brittany filter. It takes forever but makes the water nice and soft as well as lowering the ph

Well you can just lower the pH with up or down.
Now 750ppm is high. Have you retested? Also I would try samples from other faucets or even a neighbors water, just to get a comparison. If it's 250 I wouldn't be overly concerned. You can always ask your water company for a breakdown of your tap water.

So if its at 250 dont worry about it? Ill probably test a neighbors water. And ill probably test the water i can get from a water dispenser down the road.
Not to worried about getting good water but my reservoir size and plant tub size are an issue at this point. I dont know how big i need to get.
Would 10 gallon reservoir be big enough with a 5 gallon tub on top for veg and maybe 25 gallons with 10 gallon reservoir for flowering.
Its going to be for about 4 plants 1000w light.

Yes im doing the ebb and flow. I was thinking for my reservoir It could be taller verses wide. that would help will the water getting to low when its pumping to my plant tub.
SO maybe my plant tub would be like 50 or 25% the size of my reservoir.
Idk, i was hoping yall could help me pic something out a good size. my uncle said with that light ill need a tray that is 4x4ft 8in tall.
4x4x.66=10.56ft cubed = 78.99 gallons.
Now i dont know if my calculations are wrong or not but 4X4 just seems like wayyyyy to big. If i do the conversion backwards. Im guessing iwould need about 10-15gallon tray which would be 1.34ft^3 - 2.01ft^3
So thats my thoughts.

A thousand watt light should have a 4x4 table. And you are pretty close on your calculations. But let's say that you are really only filling up about 6 inches of your table. so you are really going to need a total of 60 for the table itself. So you would need a res. of at least 2-3 times that.

that's a biggg reservoir. imagine 3 55 gallon tubs.
I just never see people using big reservoirs for there grows here or eve talk about it. Maybe ill start a post "how big is your reservoir for your 1000w light"

im just here keep thinking, theres no way I could get a 150 gallon reservoir... That's just way to big.
Correct me if im wrong, but my thoughts are, as long as theres enough water/nutes to keep your plants satisfied at that very moment (which you can tell by your starting and ending TDS readings) then that's should be good enough. And I was thinking abut 40 gallon reservoir. Then once I know the height I need to go, (6in high) then I can find out how big of a tray I would need get (length and width wise). And by maintaining my TDS I can get healthy grow. Then only thing is the amount of size the roots have to grow in.
Just my thought though. I really don't know.
PLease correct my if im wrong and I will get the right shit if I have too.

Well first off there's not too many people doing ebb & flo on this forum to begin with. But what I'm recommending is the standard for this method. And yes it is necessary, for a number of reasons.
1. With ebb & flo, when the water is on, you run it constantly. So that it's filling the tray and draining out at the same time.
2. You want a good amount of extra water/nutes for the plants to feed off of, otherwise you can end up with wild swings of pH and PPM's. Having a bunch of extra water will help you in the long run.
3. If you don't have one big enough, you will have to change it out even more frequently.
Why do you not think you can have that big of a res? Have you actually looked at the size of space one would take up?

its not the space. Its the water. That's a bunch of water. and around 8.8lbs a gallon, that's 1056lbs for 120gallons. I want to do it up stairs and I also wanted to buy my water. I was thinking about having 50 gallon reservoir with 30 gallon tub holding the plants. If 1 5 gallon bucket would support 1 plant then 30 gallons should support 6 plants. That would mean filling up 10 5 gallon jugs.

4 weeks veg+8weeks flowering =12 res changes MIN
So even if you were right on the 50gal, that's 600 galons. R u really gonna buy 600 jugs of water in 12 weeks? I would just let your tap water sit for a day or so before you use it, or get a filter.

Do you really have to change your water that much even with a tds and ph meter? Theres no way to just kinda add more water and nutes instead of changing it all out?

Yes you need to change it out. EVERY WEEK!!!!! This is one of the reasons people fail in hydro.

OP, i'm pretty confident that the best choice for you is to do at least 1 soil run with that setup. Meanwhile you can look up a more hands-off hydro method (deep water culture?).
Once you get your investment back from the soil run, expiriment, but untill then dont think nothing can go wrong lol

Im not using 5 gallon buckets but i was saying to imagine that in your head as a size reference, im saying that a 5 gallon bucket would be big enough to support one plant... if thats true then a 30 gallon table can support 6 plants....
Im pretty set on hydro. As long as I keep my grow journal updated at least once a day, im confident the good people here on growery will help me along the way.
And dont get me wrong, its not like I haven't done any research, ive actually been researching for years hence the 3 year old nutes I never put to use.
Ok change the water out once a week. I can manage that.
Whats this "leaving the tap water out a day will make it better or adding a filter" what kind of filter do yall use and what does leaving your water out a day do to it?

Ok i wasnt going to buy gallon jugs from the store but 5 gallon jugs from the store. It cost $1.25 for 5 gallons or $12.50 for 50 gallons. 12.5 times 12 weeks of changing out water equals about $150.00 not bad if you ask me.

Hauling 60gal a week from the store? Pretty horrible...suspicious at least. And 150$ can get you 4 bags of ffof and pots....just sayin.
Btw, this is minimum, as 12 weeks is too short of a timespan for most strains; if you fck up even a little, they take a little longer; you will need to change it more then once a week if its 30gal to 6 huge plants.
If you let the water stand for a day, it's distiled. Much softer ppm.
Brita filter or any reverse osmosis filter will work better. I got a 3 gal one for 30$, for drinking. I THINK this makes ppm to 0 ph goes down as well

Letting your water sit for a while will let the chlorine and what ever else evaporate .In my set up i leave it sit like a week and my ph is like 6.4 out of the tap its 7.8 so check yours like that!

If I can buy i brita filter (which wouldn't be a problem) I can get water to where i need it and get it out of where its at using hoses. Ive done it before. Im a practicing electrician right now and ive seen all kinds of techniques done for everything, so Im not real worried. I can fix all those problems. Im going to run 2 dedicated circuits for my veg and flower room this weekend. I think two 20amp circuits should be fine. thats a total of 32 available amps to use. Ill take pictures so yall can admire my work. lol.
I pretty sure im going to build a false wall in my bedroom. That will happen in about a week.

My PH was exacty 7.8. Maybe ill go ahead and try that, let it set for a while. Can I add H2O2 to it for bacteria growth or whatever?

Okay, the 5-6 gallon bucket grows need to be fucked with CONSTANTLY, unless they have a reservoir that recirculates water, that why I always recommend RDWC instead of regular DWC.

That's not true. Distilled water is evaporated and then collected after condensing. Letting it sit just allow chlorine to evaporate.

I guess that's the wrong term...but lowers the ppm and ph so seems like the right fix to me if he got 7.8 water with 750ppm

Well its been 10 days since my update. Thought id let yall in.
Well i textured my new place yesterday and im going to slap on some paint tomorrow. I went out and bought some 1/2in pipe to make up some runs for a 220 12000BTU air conditioner i bought for my grow room (package deal of that air conditioner which has heat and 2 12g 60ft runs of wire for my N and G for $150) and im going to run 2 dedicated 20 amp circuits as well. The only part that sucks is my breaker box is maxed out so im going to have to buy a 100amp sub panel.
Good thing im an electrician and I have most of the stuff I need to do it.
hopefully by this wekkend I will have my seeds germinated and ready to get my grow journal going.
