SWIM's first grow

Let him know what you think.
2-3 weeks from germination. Not on the most rigorous light schedule, but light is given about 18 hours a day on average. Once germinated in a paper towel, these were put in a coco coir/potting soil mix for a few weeks. This picture is a few hours after transplanting them into large pots. Light is not the best, a 65w flood light. I see some stretching I think. Sorry the picture quality is not the best.
4-6 Update: Both pics are the same plant as in the very first picture. More soil was piled up around the stem after it was transplanted to a smaller pot. It is receiving much more water and the light was moved to within 6 inches.
5-27 Update:
New light. What do you think?

Well Its like a double edge sword. Like you put them in smaller containers as seedling = Dirt will dry sooner. Bigger pots= longer to dry plus you should water all the soil. But U save the plant any stress tranplanting if your not any good at it

Okay wait, you don't even know the size of his containers, or his watering schedule. Don't jump to conclusions man.

I prolly would have buried it a lil deeper...but then again the stretching could be due to the flood light. Id get the cheap cfl's if i was on a budget. Somethin around 6400 or 6500k.
More info on the light please...brand? Temp?
Edit: 2-3 weeks seems way too lanky...

Heh, so flood lights do work..unless its an hps flood light which is weird. That being said, that plant is obviously reaching for light, and is way too small for 2-3 weeks.
How many holes are in the container? How big?
50% coir is waay too much IMO. You might as well treat it as a soilless mix
I tried the seedling mix from FF and after it dried up for the first time, it wasn't absorbing water well at all, and it only occurred to me because there was Much more runoff then from the other cups(with ffof/perlite). So if I didn't have anything to compare to (like op) I would think its good. I remember i had to use more then a gallon of water to get 2 in of wet soil. In a Dixie cup. Just saying maybe he waters enough, but there's not enough water for the plant, cause it just goes down the sides of the container and out.

It all depends on what kind of light. Most flood lights aren't HPS. And an HPS is and HID light, not really a flood light.

I don't see the confusion. Thus, the stoner comment. You decide if it's because I'm a stoner or because you're a stoner that there is confusion.

You misunderstood my comment. It wasn't a statement proclaiming that I don't know what a flood light is. It's that I was surprised he was using that.

Looks a lil better i guess...
Those things are really stretchy for as long as theyve been growing. I still think they need more light. And more info would still help...still dont know too much about how those are bein grown but i really think they should be bigger if its already been about 4 weeks.

I don't know a good way to break this to you...but if you dont give it good lighting and another few weeks, the most you will get is a joint, and it probably won't be very high quality.
For 4 weeks old that looks like a holocaust camp survivor equivalent of a cannabis plant.
This pretty much proves that halogen bulbs are no good for photosynthesis.

Lol yeah thats more accurate...
I didnt have the heart to put it like that though and was hoping hed at least give more info about the light that way we could more accurately point out why it doesnt work :/
Holocaust survivor...lol
But yeah to op, that plant sucks...sorry man. You should go tell your friend to get a better light..at the minimum a cfl...

Ok well he just replaced the light and will get a second one to put right over them. I know it looks terrible at the moment, hoping there is still hope though!
Here is the one that was being used:
And it was just replaced with this light:
A second one will be added soon.

Youre better off with 32 watt cfls then that stupid flood light.
Your "friend" needs to come over here himself and read this thread cuz then hed realize that those bulbs are no good. A cheap cfl is like 10 bucks dude and fits in a standard socket. If youre doin a budget grow check out the how to build a grow tent tutorial and get the bulbs pictured. Theyre super cheap and the basic lil reflectors are at any hardware store. Even the most basic of cfls or a single 2 foot, t5 would be better than that halogen bulb.
If you cant get the right lights then do it outdoors or dont do it. I dont see a point in putting a lot of effort into a grow thats just not gonna produce what you want.
This pic is from the faq im referencing and shows the lights im talkin about.
