Yeah, gotta stay away from all that Miracle Gro SHIT.
Also the nute you're using in veg is WAY too hot for young plants.
Finally, if you're accurately measuring pH, you need to get your plant out of those basic ranges and back to a mildly acidic soil, otherwise you'll lock out all the nutes you're trying to feed her.

I think your reaction is probably along the lines of those who hear my plants grow in all different types of shit literally but I can only think of urine being beneficial. It's free ammonia and a lot so it would need to be diluted a lot. Probably why the OP has always known to do if before rain.

Urine is NOT beneficial.  It's only beneficial after being diluted and aged.  And it really has no place in your indoor grow.  It is NOT a knee jerk reaction, I have seen people ask this time and again.  My answer will be the same.  Some some proper nutrients and pH up and pH down.

If you're not willing to buy proper pH up or down, then baking soda and lemon juice can work.

just some more stuff i found

(((I use good old armor and hammer baking soda and generic distilled white vinegar. I have not tried or even considered trying red wine vinegar or anything of the sort since it is the acid we are after.

1/4 tsp vinegar/gallon/point PH down adjustment
1/2 tsp baking soda/TEN gallons/point PH up adjustment

If you need finer adjustments or just want something that is a little more forgiving you can weaken these by mixing with distilled water.

I see absolutely no benefit to purchasing PH up and down or other more obscure acids. For less than $5 I have enough PH up and down to last me for the foreseeable future.)))

You must have added like a whole box per gallon of water or something to kill a plant with it man.  There was probably something else wrong with it.

Why don't you just buy some real pH up and down?

And on top of that, why are you using rain water?  It's not necessarily the best route.  Depending on the composition of your tap water that can be just fine for your plants.

Well as we stated. you over ferted them.  So you must take corrective action against that.  And the pH for soil should be in the 6.5 area.

i think im going to look in to DWC i flushed the day i started the journal now im fighting ph ups and downs there are 11 plants and they all have different ph iv focused my efforts to the worst first but it seems every thing wants to just go acidic on me O i dont know if this means any thing but iv gotten a couple plant that want to branch off 4 or 5 times in the same spot some leafs do it too ill get 7 blades to a leaf then a small blade or two will come out the top of the leaf the last pic shows what im talking about

Of course there are, but you only need pH and once of the other 3.  They're all measuring the same.

So just get a combo PPM/pH meter.

well made some ph down 3 teaspoons vinegar to 1 gallon tap water and some ph up 1/4 teaspoon arm and hammer baking soda per gallon reading is shakey jumping around from 4 to 5.9 maybe 6 but the plants dont look shocked did the first three in line for control test to see how it works out O leafs on 7 out of 11 have stated to curl down branches are coming from mid to uper plant still no luck with a good ph meter i think my soil master got a messed up probe or some thing but im going to push on the plant with dieing tips has started to get better really dark green though the dead yellow tips never recovered just the rest of the plant

Looks like multiple issues from nutrient deficiency/lock out to over fertilization and maybe a bit of over-watering thrown in.  Not sure what to do at this point other than flush for a couple weeks and hope they come around.  Next run start with clean, fresh soil and only feed water until they show that they need something.  Then use an appropriate, easy-going organic fertilizer like a fish emulsion or kelp-, casting-, or guano-based tea as necessary.  Some rock dust and/or azomite in your soil for trace minerals would probably help, too.  Good luck.

NO MIRACLE-GRO! :kingcrankey:

Miracle gro nutes and soils are petroleum-based, chelated, time-release, and all around bad news for cannabis plants.  My biggest issue is that the combination of slow release and synthetic chemical nutrients pretty much guarantees that you can't flush the plant enough when it's time to harvest, so you get to smoke whatever nasty shit is still coursing through your buds.

Have you tested the rain water for dissolved solids and pH?

Also, DWC is a hydroponic method...not soil.  Maybe I just don't understand your previous post, could you clarify?

Okay, I'm pretty confused by this.
Let's start with what you're trying to accomplish right now:

Are you building a soil, running a DWC setup, or going for a soil-less grow using some soil alternative like coco fiber?  These are all distinctly different setups.

Sorry! I'm back I'm trying to come up with a soil or soilless mix that drains well.  I still will hold ph and fertilizer well.  So I did a bucket set up to make humidity for the root zone, and to drain the #5 pots so that they're not sitting in water.  The #5 pots got the crazy mix I told you about earlier.  Potting soil, peat moss, perlite, and vermiculite.  Now I would like to take some of my old soil I made up and use it for filler.  When I go to make my new mix.  I got 2, 8quart bags of perlite, and about the same in peat moss and stirofoam beads. I have made up from old packing stirofoam.  I would like to try and use the stirofoam because I've seen it in other soil mixes.  I think it might work well as a filler. Also planning on putting some bone meal and maybe blood meal not sure yet.

p.s.  Sorry if I had you out of breath on them run on sentences. I do that when I'm doing to many things at one time and high.

Alright, here's step one: make a decision as to whether you are doing a soil grow, or go soil-less

Describe this setup better, I don't think anybody here knows what you're talking about when you say a bucket setup for humidity. Maybe a picture if possible?

What you're describing here is a soil mix, but it doesn't sound like a very good one.  First, you're starting with (and I don't mean this as an insult) a TERRIBLE soil mix from your first attempt, then you're proposing the addition of a lot of "filler" that does almost nothing in the way of correcting the issues you have.

Check it out, basic soil mix:
1 part good quality potting soil, 1 part extra chunky perlite, 1 part coconut coir (rinsed), 1 part worm castings.
All relatively cheap, all natural, and good enough to get the babies up and running.

Wanna give it a boost? Well I know you've got manure, so if it's been aged and rinsed, you can go ahead and add it in a ratio of 1/10 of the total soil mix.

DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT NUTRIENTS AT THIS POINT.  Get your base mix together, get some babies out of their shells, and then come check in again and we can all talk nutes.  Bueno?

Also, don't forget to describe that bucket setup so we can take care of that variable as well.

im going to go with soil. i think it might have a better buffer to it. im not sure though because this is just a hobby for me. i work to much to sit on this stuff and watch it all the time. i get to come in and check about every 3 to 4 days week max.

no pictures at this point. i will try tonight. ok this is what im going for. my root grow up to the top of the #5 pot making a big ass root ball. i want them to grow down. so im going to bottom feed.

5 gallon bucket with about a inch to a inch and a half of water in the bottom of each bucket. NOT touching the pots just enof water to crate humidity under the pot in the bucket. i have a pump to move the water though the hole system to a reservoir so i can check ppm and ph of water when i need to. water will be heated to some point im sure ill look it up to get rite temp.

all the plant i pulled. the root mass was at the top of the soil. no roots at the bottom of the pots on most of them. some would have a small mat of roots at the bottom of the pot but only about 5% was at the bottom of the pot. the other 95% was at the top 3 to 4 inches of soil. i think this was caused by light watering they would get about 20 to 30 fl oz of water every 2 days

Well then all you have to do is give them a thorough saturating when you water them.  You're over complicating this....

Ok soil PH problem with the original plants. Ph is at a 4.2 I keep adding gardening lime, 2 tablespoons a day. I check it everyday before I give anymore.  I mix it into the top 2 inches of soil, will the peat moss buffer of counteract the lime in anyway.

Here is a complete list of things that I have added to the soil to make it what it is now.

mix
60% peat moss
20% perlite
20% potting soil

add ins used to adjust ph all????

baking soda
vinegar
hydorgen peroxide
gardening lime
iron nite
lime rite

Not all of these were used at the same time.  Also take in mind I burned them with fertlizer.

i did end up with some spores in the soil. that crossed over from a air line and the perlite. thought it might happen only when the humidity gose up to 80% or 85%they grew. panama cub very nice biggest plant to out the same pot stock was 1-1/4in plant was was over 5 foot with a foot of pot

Yeah, vinegar is an acid, was your soil too basic at some point?
Also, peat moss is HIGHLY acidic, and it makes up the majority of your mix, I would bet that's your culprit.

Whoa.
Those are some fucked up plants.
Did you use hydrated lime?
I don't even know if those are salvageable...looks like they've been burned, overwatered, pH fucked, the humidity is probably too high due to the standing water in the grow space, and what is that "reservoir" thing you have set up with all the sludge in the bottom?

The plant on the left side of most of the pictures looks like it could survive, but you need to flush all the salts out of it (all of those "pH adjusters" are creating a massive salt build-up in your soil), and once flushed, you'll need to completely replace almost all the nutes you're currently using: they're killing your plants.

more then half of them did die. the reservoir thing just pumps water out to keep to much from sitting in the bottom of the buckets. no drip set up yet. the humidity levels stay around 40% to 60% most the time some times ill get a spike. but i know when i do because i get shrooms that grow. wen or lose im getting some thing out of it just not what i want. so had it with the shrooms. im just giving them away at this point. grew them for almost 2 years. thank to shroomery good shit on there part. lots of help could of never got as far as i did with that if it was not for the great team there and RR

not sure i know i used lime rite and gardening lime. most of the first soil mix was peat moss and compost tea. holey crap the acid factor was just to high to control for me with as little time i have to spare to the grow. im always working. im just so tiered of paying 25 to 30 a G for crap nothing like what i get when im home in FL

compost tea was made up from citrus bananas breads some meat egg shells leafs roots tea bags coffee grounds just any thing i thought would just rot or break down hell the flys loved it the plant not so much.

You never want animal protein in your compost, and you want it composted BEFORE you make it into a tea.
Frankly, this grow is a bit of a shit-show.  You need to finish it in whatever way you choose to finish it, and then tear it the fuck down and pretty much create a completely new setup.
Keep. it. simple. You are vastly overcomplicating a relatively simple process.
Ditch all that hose and the pumps and get down to just soil in buckets.
Go back a page in this thread and look at the soil recipe I put up for you.
Once you've managed a basic soil grow, and used legitimate nutrients, you can start experimenting with technique.

My Ace has an indoor gardening section and carries fox farm. Maybe yours doesn't but I bet you could order it and pick it up in store.

Yeah, I don't know how remote it is where you live, but actual gardening supply stores are a MUCH better bet than the big box stores in terms of quality of products offered.
Look around for a more specialized store, especially one that's locally owned.

I'm sure there's a nursery or something near you man.  They's have quality soil mixes.  No matter how small a town you live in there's a way to get decent soil.

I concur, AND you can buy non-petroleum based nutrients and additives that are not cannabis specific.  There's no reason for anybody to raise an eyebrow at you buying high quality gardening supplements and supplies.

seen this on roll it up. what do you guys think?

GH PH DOWN is made from phosphoric acid, which makes your reservoir pump and hoses slimy, especially during flowering. When the phosphoric acid hits the P saturated solution, a plume of phosphorus hits the water and the solution cant hold it all, some of it changes form to a solid and it becomes slime that sticks to everything it touches. I use sulfuric acid and I get no slime at all, all I have to do is rinse out my system once a week, almost no scrubbing at all.

You can get sulfuric acid at any auto parts store, just ask for battery acid. Cost is anywhere from $3.99 - $5.99 per liter, very cheap. You have to ask for it, they keep it behind the counter. Wear rubber gloves and goggles while handling it. For weaker strength, use 1/3 of a cup per gallon. For normal strength use about a half cup per gallon. Make sure you use RO water or distilled water. You dont want the chlorine from your tap water interacting with the sulfuric acid. A $3.99 container of battery acid will make about 8 or 10 gallons of PH Down.

For PH UP use 100% pure lye. One level tablespoon makes a gallon, which lasts years. Lifetime supply for under 5$.

Read the ingredients on the lye to make sure it is PURE sodium hydroxide or pure Lye in crystal form. To make the PH UP, fill a gallon container 3/4 with RO or distilled water and drop one tablespoon of lye crystals in, then top off with the rest of the water. Wear rubber gloves and goggles. I will never ever have to pay 25$ per gallon for UP or DOWN again!!!

Get it online cheap:

I'm not sure about trade rules around here, but you can probably find someone online to trade with. They can just put the nutes in soda bottles of appropriate color...or something. It's not illegal or anything.

Hell, you can most likely negotiate something with an eBay seller. There's so much competition there now that they've become flexible. Licorice flexible.

Ok cdmc, this is your intervention.
Just for right now, stop looking at alternative and experimental techniques for your grow.
You don't understand the basics yet, so introducing all these things that you really don't understand is futile at best, and dangerous at worst.
If you have experience handling and diluting strong acids and bases, then sure, go ahead and use sulfuric acid and lye, but if you don't know if you should add water to an acid or vice versa, or why it's hazardous to your health to use tap water with battery acid, or that if you use the battery acid to bring pH down and then have to use NaOH to bring it back up that you're creating sodium sulfate, and if you don't know how that affects your soil, I recommend what I've recommended before.

I'm so confused on your system that I have no fucking clue where your ph should be...
If you're growing in dirt, you're just a tad high for my taste (I shoot for a 6.5-6.7) but not awful; if this is a hydro grow, you are wayyyyy too alkaline. When I run hydro, I maintain around 5.8.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't a full point difference equal 10x the acidity in either direction, i.e. 7.0 is 10x as alkaline as 6.0?

warning all models vary you should just get the book for your vehicle type and model!!! but ya just gut the motor down until you can get to the bottom shaft/crank shaft. with the biggest bolt to the front of the engine. turn it with a socket and breaker bar until (number one) comes to the top of the piston don't go past ur finger. (number one) is the first spark plug to detonate also know as (firing order). dont go past the timing mark on your harmonic balancer 0% is key

ps. i blazzed have some  auto gasket glue ready for when you go to put it back together

new question? i got this old soil i don't want to just throw out. but i think i might have to. i get the soils ph to come back up to 7.5 when i add a cup of lime to it every day. the next day ph is back to 4.3 to 4.2 should i use pellet lime or maybe soak the soil in a ph solution of 6.5 to 7.0 or will that ph just drain off with the water?  im lost

I thought we had already done a good job of enumerating the reasons why your old soil mix was roughly the equivalent of human shit in a bucket...
Throw it out.  Refer back to this.

I'm with you, and I recycle my (100% organic) soil mix after every grow, but the content that was in your original soil is going to create major problems if you try to reuse it.
You could cut it 50/50 with compost/light potting soil and use it for house plants though.

That's part of it, but I told you before about the peat moss...it's bottoming out your pH, and unless you get a shit-ton more organic material in there, it will always be too low.
Also, peat moss is not sustainable, so it's a poor choice ecologically (which we hippies care about).

i looked at the Hempy bucket it dont really sound like what i was talking about. interesting though!! but you still have to use the three part n-p-k plus ph and tds. an a possible micro nuts add in. let me see if i can link what im talking about to this site.

feel free to correct me if im wrong.

i see what your saying about Hempy bucket it dose look simple but you still need the three part N-P-K plus micro nuts in most cases. the  Aquaponics you just feed your fish and check ph every now and then. which is better for the environment. from what i hear fertilizers that gets in to are water ways turn in to mercury later on as they move to the ocean.

Npk nutrients = all nutrients except micro
Im trying to make sense of what you're saying but idk

Can you elaborate on the nutes turning into mercury o.O

Give those seeds more time. Wrap em in a wet towel maybe

"Mercury in fertilizers results during the manufacturing process from the addition of sulfuric acid."

We have no way to control how factories dump their waste. It's not the actual nutrients that turn to mercury

I only soak my seeds in water for 24 hours before putting them in their sprouting medium.  I never see taproot before the transfer and I have at least a 95% germination rate.

o well that great i probably drowned them then. well i got on to do a soil up date. ph probe shows that i got a ph of 3.5 with the soil master and the run off shows a ph of 7.1 to 7.2 now my tap water here runs at a 7.7 to a 7.6 so dose this mean that my soil master ph probe has some thing wrong with it or what?

Umm, in the beginning of the.post I saw some one say that pee is full of bacteria... Well from what I learned in med classes is the opposite, ur urinary system is supposed to be bacteria/virus free, if not then u have a UTI... Unless ur leaving ur urin out for days, then the nitrates break down and so forth creating an environment that will then breed bacteria. Ph in urin is also lower than you would think aswell, roughly round 5-6 I believe; I could be wrong but urinalysis was not my specitality...

I don't know who claimed that, but you are right.  They're should not be bacteria in you're urine, unless you have a UTI.

The problem with urine isn't that it's pathogenic, it's that it contains urea which degrades to ammonia in less than 24 hours, and has too much ammonia based nitrogen.  Ammonia based nitrogen is essentially free N and it's typically too hot for plants.

What? It's not a virus either, it's simply the chemical rxn that takes place as urea degrades to ammonia.
I would hope that someone with herpes would know better than to piss on his/her plant.

No it would not.  Your pH is way too high, needs to be 5.8 or so.

I was told there is nothing I could do about my ph it rides hard at 7.9 to 8.0 I was told it is my water. the guy at the pet store said we had a ash clouds from the mines come though the city here about a year ago. but I thought that would make acid rain but I don't know all I know is im fighting fucked up ph readings I changed the rock out my beds and I flush my reservoir every time it rains

Yeah, this doesn't make since.  Are you on well water?  Or city water?  If you are on city water, you should ask the water department for a breakdown of your water.  If you are on a well, then it raining will not effect your tap right off the bat.  It will take time to for it to filter down to the ground table, and who know's what's going on in the ground to change it.

Now the story of the ash cloud sounds dubious.

it was a indoor grow. I was using rain water from a rain barrel. I had 14 fish in a 15 gallon reservoir. I used river rock for my medium pump kick on ever 15 minutes for 15minutes lighting 1000watt hps at 12/12 toped my tank off every 5 to 7 days changed water every two weeks gold fish end up with red lips and gills all die but 2. for the ash cloud we got a new school and a new hospital out of that well so im told.
I think im going to try just ordering one of them hydroponic fertilizer kits I see on google all the time any suggestions on a cheep but working kit iv been at fox farm tiger kit and General Hydroponics flor series

its cool we are breaking down today. thank you for caring! but what im really trying to get is a straight answer on a cheap yet effective hydroponic fertilizer for my next set up? I have 3 flood and drain tables and 9 DWC buckets 1 1000w hps and 10 t12 with a blue spectrum all are going in to a 6x6 grow tent. im looking at about 1400watts in lighting and another 80 to 150 watts with fans pumps. but like I said im looking for a simple cheap and effective nut package. my spending limit is about 150 give or take 50 bucks.

What do you mean bitching about calmag?  Like just that they need to use it?

I supplement with calmag just to make sure that I never run into problems.  And its fairly cheap.  Just get a small container of it and add 1-2 mls per gallon with every other feeding.  Trying to do things as cheap as possible isn't always the best idea.

You could always just use the basic GH triple pack if you wanna go cheap

need a little help I found this suff at my locale grocery store. two say hydroponic use. they are all 3 from Earth&Ocean systems. first up is EOS N-R-G

total Nitrogen (N).........1.0%
    .50%ammoniacal Nitrogen

Well if the company is selling, it's probably not toxic man.

If they're selling it, then they designed it for plants.  What would make you think it would be toxic?

Well that wouldn't mean that it would be to toxic.  It means that it wasn't designed for hydro.

It's been a few years since I've been in hydro, but I recall most liquid nutrients can be used in hydro, regardless of whether the package says it is designed for it or not.

Do a google on that product and see if you get any reviews.  Call the company again, ask for the numbers of their reps, they're probably too busy to answer emails.
