Reasons I like LOTR.
>Led Zepplin shows their geeky side by making an awesome nerd reference: that most people that listened to the music didn't get until the movie came out many years later.
>Before the movies came out my uncles chamleon was named Gandalf.
>My dad has an ancient box set of the 4 books.

lotr is part of the reason I love zepp so much. even their songs that don't directly mention it, many of them have a feel of the lotr world. misty mountains and swamps and whathaveyou.

I'm super excited for this. I've read the hobbit and the LOTR series countless times. To me the best part of watching the movies was seeing the characters and lands I envisioned in my head as a kid come to life. While I really enjoyed the rings series, I think the hobbit was the best book out of the whole series.
Don't think I'm crazy enough to brave the nerd crowds on opening weekend, but I'll be seeing it as soon as I can.

Ya that's what I heard.. That is a lot.. They're going to be stretching quality I think w/ 3 movies, although I'm a huge fan I hate when they drag shit out like that.

I believe I read most of the Hobbit, if not all of it. I can see 2 movies for sure, but 3 is definitely a stretch. I'm thinking maybe there will be some stuff to fill the gap between the two...although doesn't the first movie start with Bilbo finishing up writing his book? So that doesn't make much sense. I dunno, we'll see I guess.

I could be wrong but wasn't he still writing the book in LOTR, I thought that was one of the reasons he wanted to disappear..
Yeah, I did hear something about the animal cruelty, but didn't really look in2 it. As a huge animal lover myself, I hope charges where brought against whomever was responsible.
