Just a random poll here. I'm not vegetarian, but think about it sometimes. I just love fish/red meat too much to give it up I think, and don't really see a valid reason to do so.

i eat poultry and seafood, no red meat for me!
but i grew up with vegetarian meals, they are pretty good.

chicken is probably the only meat i'd recommend to meat eaters. anybody ever notice how chicken can cure headaches or nausea sometimes?

damn, i actually am a vegetarian. Truthfully, i think it's cool that you grew up with those meals, being a vegetarian, I find it more difficult to find meals that are vegetarian. the more the better!
a good poll would be:
if you had to quit eating meat because they stopped producing it, how many people would die over this, and raise and kill their own cows to compensate. I sure as fuck wouldn't.

I've been a strict vegetarian for a few months now. It's not hard to do when you realize how many innocent animals are treated cruelly their entire lives and then killed just for your hedonism.

Farmer make sure they are fed and in the least stress possible (Stress produces poorer quality meat). The bottom line is the animal has to die. It has to die because I have to eat. And I'm choosing steak/chicken/porkchops over some shitty salad. This is done in the most efficient way possible.
These farmers probably dont like killing the cows much either. It's a hassle but people want meat and he's gotta make his buck.
This WHOLE process works best (for everyone) the less the animal's in stress or suffering. Customers get tastier meat, farmers make more money, animals are fed well and kept in reasonable conditions before slaughter.

Killing a cow removes a source of CO2, Methane and saves a huge amount of grass.
Harvesting (nicer word for killing) lettuce removes a generator of O2, thermal stability (think an acres of grass vs asphalt), and requires far more volume to be consumed to gain equal calories.

at the beginning, and throughout the day, I usually eat oatmeal, grits, ramon, sphagettios, sometimes oranges. And in the evening I enjoy eating a large steak, or pork chops. Sometimes fish.
And as far as my drinking habits go...I drink 2-3 12oz bottles of water. And for the rest of the day I drink coffee or coca-cola. And sometimes beer at night.

Yes it is true that the meat is poorer quality, but if you're claiming that the animals are stress free, you haven't seen the conditions of most animal farms. Kosher farms are much more humane than the ordinary. I have seen videos of chicken farms in america that use a method of grabbing the chicken by the head and twirling it around to break its neck to kill it. At this same farm, the chickens aren't able to move in their cages and often the chickens die and rot in these same cages.

Yes, methane is a big environmental issue because of the vast quantities of cows, but killing them won't fix anything. There are so many cows in the first place because of America's demand for beef.
I don't mean to come off as pretentious by saying "killed for your hedonism" but it is the truth. The reason people do not want to give up meat is because (most frequently) they like how it tastes. If you claim health reasons, then you haven't researched it enough. My mother is a nutritionist and a vegetarian and I know for a fact you can get enough B12 and protein through drinking milk and eating soy and bean products.
The reason I gave up meat was the simple realization that I am an animal, and just like any other living being, I can die at any moment. I choose compassion and choose not to hurt any animals in any way.
