i watched Catch Me if you Can last night. An awesome movie! That guy that the movie is based on is a badass. Wikipedia lists him as a "confidence trickster". He fooled sooo many people. not just any people though, influential people with a lot of responsibility. pretty interesting story to say the least.

I caught this movie expecting some campy b-reel horror flick but I was actually caught off guard by how much I like it. There I was at 2 in the morning, glued to the screen watching a movie about trolls.
This film is from Norway and is a shot on video, found footage style. A documentary film crew is following a man who they think is a bear poacher. Well it turns out that he is in fact a troll hunter. He agrees to let them follow him and film his hunting of trolls if they follow a few rules.
This is one is very reminiscent of some of the giant monster movies that I cut my teeth on. This film is very tongue-in-cheek but also takes itself very seriously at the same time. In my experience, subtitled foreign films usually have a hard time translating comedy due to the language barrier but I did get quite a few great laughs during my viewing.
The only minor thing I will mention is the CGI used in the film, it's an independent film and has an independent film budget but it does what it can. I'm the type of person who can't watch anything on SyFy do to the poor CGI so Trollhunter holds up reasonably well.
I'll give it a  /10

Well right now I am watching a kind of documentary named Mama Coca: La feuille sacrée (the sacred leaf), it is a video I have to watch for a class to be honest, it is about an old Atikamekw (one of the 13 native nations from Québec) who goes to Peru to learn more about the coca. In the movie, he talks a lot about how, here, it destroys his community, trying to understand how the natives use it with medicinal purposes, and how much it benefits their community.
Edit: The movie was really great, explains really well the situation of the natives Peruvians, who eat the coca leaves as a medicine, they use it in rituals, in hospitals, in food, it is not considered a drug for them, the drug is the cocaine, the transformed coca. The movie explained well also how bad the situation is down there, some of them are being sent to jail when they do not harvest the coca for cocaine (it is legal for them to use the coca, but I am not sure about cocaine). The point of view of the Atikamekw, trying to understand the use of the coca, while here, it is completely ravaging his community, is really interesting in a sense that he had a really really bad opinion about it in the beginning, and slowly started to understand how valuable it is to them, comparable to the tobacco in their rituals.

I recently watched "The Truman Show" It is alot fucking cooler than it sounds. If like government experimentation is your cup of tea this movie is for you! It's basically about a corporation who addopts this baby and makes his entire life a TV show. and everything he do and everyone he knows and his entire world is a TV Set. And he doesn't even know it. But then towards the end he sort of starts figuring some things out. Its a really cool movie, 5/5 forsure!

Watched the new Muppet Movie. It was the SHIT!
You gotta be ready for the musical numbers, but they do it in a tongue in cheek manner and I fucking loved it.
Keep in mind that A Muppet Christmas Carol is my favorite Christmas movie though.

Checking out "Moon" (2009) as per suggestion of one of my best friends. I haven't really heard of it, but this particular friend has the same tastes in 99% of things as I do, so when he said "Get real baked and watch Moon", I decided to give it a shot.

It was really interesting, the name of the documentary is Le Voyage de Charlie (Charlie's Journey)
He goes in Peru, visits one of the most powerful shaman of the region (which has the most shamans in all the world), he learns about Ayahuasca (Which he use 2 times, maybe more, but we only see the beginning of them), medicinal plants, thangs like that.It is fascinating how the shaman was able to make Charlie connect with his ancestors trough Ayahuasca, he taught him the basics of shamanism, and the ayahuasca did the rest, started the mechanism. The Inuit community has lost their shamanistic beliefs, for christianism. I found it nice how two cultures, completely different, can connect themselves together that way.
Edit: A doccumentary on Coca, and then one on Ayahuasca ... Fuck I love this class

I watched Re-Animater last night for the first time. Pretty good and actually creeped me out on some parts. 
Saw Apocalypse Now a few days ago. Fuckin badass.
Prolly gonna watch The Crazies tonight or whatever other horror film from the 80's I can find on youtube.

I like Jason Statham in Bank Job. That movie is pretty awesome. Blitz was good too. Like you said, pretty much every thing he is in is good.

Saw immortals liked it a lot. I'm a big fan of greek mythology so it was pretty nice imo. Mickey Rourke does a fantastic job and loved the choreography.
50/50 was great too, seth rogan and joseph gordon-levitt are awesome in it. Hard hitting emotional plot
And kp whenever you can check out the star wars series in bluray if you havent already. It's very pretty

Just watched Commando with Arnold Schwarzenegger. Great nostalgic action flick. The plot and script is awful, but my brothers and I watched it as kids, so now I love to go back and watch it as an adult.
Also watched Vertical Limit on Netflix just 'cuz. Its really, really terrible. A team of 6 climbers try to climb K2, 3 die, 3 are trapped in a crevasse. ANOTHER team of 8 climbers decide to rescue the surviving 3 using...wait for it...NITROGLYCERINE that they're carrying up the mountain courtesy of the Pakistani military! Long story short 6 of the 8 rescue mission climbers then die. So 3 people die then an additional 6, for a grand total of 9 deaths out of 12 climbers and everybody is happy at the end like: "Yeah!! We did it!!!"

Saw it yesterday and I loved it too. I grew up with the Muppets and thought they kept it pretty true to the original flavor. I almost pissed my pants when the chickens did the Fuck You song.  Only a few people in the theater got it. I heard a couple people ask each other what was so funny, because it came across so innocent.

Yep Dragon...Rourke always does his role justice, I personally just got bored of the unreal scenery. I also kept expecting to see the glory that was the titans.
Azumi is a cold-blooded samurai flick, this movie is great. If you ever enjoyed Sonny Chiba in the Street fighter series, you will definitely enjoy the skillful beauty that is Azumi.

Holy shit guys, I watched 3 amazing ass movies today! The first one I watched was "Limitless", that is a very awesome movie, its about a new drug that allows you to access 100% of your brain.
2nd I watched was "11 minutes ago" was about a guy who time travels to get air samples from the past to help the quality of air in the future, was pretty cool, but slow!
the 3rd one I watched today fucking topped them all and was perhaps the BEST movie I have EVER seen! "The Game" Holy shit its so mind boggling and filled with suspense and so many god damn twists. I can't say much, but basically this guy is offered to play a game for his birthday! its not a horror movie though, if you were thinking of like Saw.

Watched "last 3 days" with Russel crow last night. Id give it 7/10. Its about a woman who is doin life in jail for a murder she did not commit. So her husband (russel), has to do some migiver planning and bust her ass out.
I like movies about heists and breakin out of jail, so i enjoyed it

Watched "Bridesmaids" with the wife today. Kinda wanted to kill myself when she mentioned it, but it was actually a pretty funny movie, and not so much a girly movie. Its not terrible if any of yo ladiez wanna watch it with ya.

It was decent I watched it with the lady friend. The fat lady was the most hilarious though. She does a TV show apparently now.
Also the part when the mom was talking about her kids masturbating. "You can literally crack the sheets in half"
I need some good suggestions though...something suspenseful to keep my attention. Burnt out on comedies as well as symbolic "deep" movies.
Though videodrome is one of the better moves I have seen in a long time. Watched that last night.

David Lynch's: The Rabbits!
This has to be the fucking weirdest most psychotic evil thing I have ever watched. This man is a true genius when it comes to creating creepy ass dream like movies.
For those who haven't heard of it, its like a 40 minute show on youtube, he has a couple episodes. and it is basically Humans with rabbit heads in one room speaking out of context so it seems. and none of it really makes sense, or does it?
And its just weird as fuck and erie. Everytime a rabbit enters the room the audience claps for some stupid ass fucking creepy reason.

Some of Lynch's shit is just too much sometimes. It goes beyond symbolism into pure madness. Blue Velvet probably has some of the best scenes in cinema though. If you have not seen it, you should.

Like Holy Mountain. I know people love that movie and praise it up and down...but I just feel like whoever made it was just trying WAY too hard...and the people feeling like its a deep movie are just wanting to to be way too hard.

Well man... I guess it probably looks a lot like 300, I haven't seen it, but I know it's probably the same way, all the budget in special effets and 0 in the scenario, the dialogs are purely douchebag typed, and the actors are quite lame.
The ONLY positive point of the movie: you get to see boobs in 3D

I hate gore, it doesn't scare me or gross me out I just find it boring nowadays. Hey I love a good violent blood and guts war movie or a few scenes in any other type of movie but when gore is the star of a movie it feels lame.

Is it just me or is there some deep significance in the movie Napoleon Dynamite? I keep feeling like theres something hidden in there that I'm just missing. Now that all the hype and idiots attention has died down...its so surreal feeling lol.
Some scenes in the movie are just like a crazy mindfuck.
Almost feels like a DPH trip.

Just watched a doccumentary on the serial killer Alexander Pichushkin a.k.a. The Chessboard Killer. Dang that guy was crazy as fuck you should look at it or read the wikipedia article, it's kinda crazy, he says he killed 61 persons, to fill the 64 squares of a chessboard. He was quite a drunkass but dang man ... he started at 17 and got caught at like 32-33 years old, in 2006.

I watched all the Futurama movies yesterday...Into the Wild Green Yonder is by far my favorite.

I liked Benders Big Score the best
it was their comeback and they really made it count
they crammed a ton of story, easter eggs, and jokes into that one

Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol....I enjoyed it, Not as many twists and turns as the previous flicks. 4/5
Seeking Justice w/Nicholas Cage....Decent, I would recommend it. Choices and consequences. 4/5
Catch 44 w/ Bruce Willis and Forest Whitaker.....Good Movie. If you dont like constant flashbacks, you may not enjoy it. 3/5

nice... this post made me download a few flicks... hope i can take your word guys!
lately i got a new computer so i could download stuff after a long time of not watching anything...
i watched a bunch of johnny depp flicks, i liked rango, the third pirates of the carribian sucked ass.
then watched Primer - which was building up to be something interesting but flopped at the end.
The fountain - was nice but also could have ended a bit better.

Newer movies suck in my opinion.I just can't dig all that fake CGI crap that frequents most films now days.Newer Dramas,and comedy are alright though,because they are usually void of all that rubbish.It would be different if it actually looked real,but it looks like watching a cinema in a video game.I was born in the 70's,so 70's through 90's is where it's at as far as I'm concerned,and even 50's and 60's:-)This is what I'm about to watch again,this is my style:-)

The Debt- OK, 3 1/2 stars
Paul- Hilarious and different. 4 1/2 stars
The Devils Double- A good movie, original. 4 stars
30 minutes or less- not very good. 3 stars
Crazy, Stupid, Love- OK, 3 1/2 stars
Hanna- Gangster as shit. 4 1/2 stars
The Ides of March- just OK. 3 1/2 stars
Moneyball- Pretty good although having a CAM version sucked. Still gets 4 stars
Assassination Games- Another good one from Statham. 4 1/2 stars

I just watched the Conan the Barbarian. It held much closer to the short stories than the Arnold movies, but I thought the actor who played Conan sucked. cowboys & aliens - it was a huge let down. The previews made it seem so bad ass. Watched it stoned as fuck last night, and i just couldn't even finish it.

Yeah it's an Australian gangster movie, really dark stuff. Chopper is another badass Austalian movie...... Bronson is good too but that's British.

Just finished Taxi Driver, still so amazing. Noticed that Scorcese put himself in the movie twice this time, not just the speaking part in the cab but earlier before Travis goes into the campaign office....... two different characters, coincidence hmmmmmmm.

i´m home sick so i had time to watch some of the movies ya´ll been talking about..
napolian dynamite was terrible, i don´t think i even got one chuckle off of that one.
limitless was pretty good, nice concept and all...
howard banks mr. nice was ok, but the story line was tooooo familiar
i liked our idiot brother... i would call it a ¨soft¨ movie if that makes any sense...
went through all the futurama movies also (a few days ago) so so... i probably shouldn´t have watched them so close to one another though!
anyway i´m back here looking for more movies to watch

Just saw Contraband.
Pretty disappointing, Ben Foster has been wasted lately in the roles he has been cast. He's a great actor, but he's been pigeon-holed lately. See the movie and you'll know what I mean.
I like Wahlberg too in movies like Shooter and The Fighter, but this one is just same-old same-old.

this was from the same guy who did the chaser. And though it fits snugly into the korean revenge genre (man from nowhere, lady vengeance, old boy, I saw the devil), both films manage to avoid the more formalic elements to it

watched animal kingdom last night with my wife.. very hard core movie and i´m very glad it wasn´t american. quality film but a bit too much for what i was expecting (i hoped for something a little lighter...)

watched 'The Woman in Black' today; should have seen it in the theatre, i might still do just that (and for the $10 ticket price!). i thought it was very well made/shot and i was extremely satisfied with it overall -- especially for something of the horror genre. just goes to show you it doesn't have to be rated R to be a wonderful movie. the suspense was amazing and there were no gaping plot holes i could find. everything resolved itself with a slightly unconventional ending that left me feeling utterly satisfied with the entire experience.
yeah, i think i'm going to have to see this in the theatre as well. i really enjoyed it and i think it would be at least 10x better on the big screen. i won't even mind seeing it a second time as it will be a new experience entirely from a 15" laptop screen, albeit with pretty decent computer speakers.
if you are going to see this, i definitely recommend paying the money to go and see it. at first i couldn't get over the whole "hey, it's Harry Potter" thing, but it was a brilliant movie and it gives me hope for movies of this genre in the future (i am so sick of the whole hand-held shaky cam schtick for horror that i want to vomit even just thinking about it let alone watching it). this was extremely well shot and acted with a fairly original story told in a compelling. definitely worth the ticket price over a free download.

That right there is why I don't want to see Rum Diary: its just capitalizing on the Gonzo perception vs. the actual story. There is no "trip scene" in the book, and there's little in the way of overarching conflict, I'll stick to HST over Hollywood.

wasn't the rum diary written before Hunter even developed his whole Gonzo schtick?
PS if you like Hunter's style of journalism, you should check out Orwell's "down and out in Paris and London". It's where he got most of his ideas about subjective documentation, and really shows what a great writer orwell really was (Both he and Huxley did their best work in non-fiction, IMO)

This week I watched some movies...
Coming to America : awesome movie, so hillarious, even though the end is quite previsible...
Bad Santa : Good movie... except the main guy is an asshole. Do you want me to make you a sanwich?
Harold & Kumar 3: Well had seen it before, great movie
Goon: Really great fuckin movie, if you liked Slapshot you need to see it. Personally I hate slapshop in english, in french it is so horrible traducted that it makes the movie great!

Watched a movie called Microcosmos on Netflix. Its a documentary thing about different bugs. I hate bugs and they make me wicked uncomfortable usually, but this did it in a non-creepy way. I'm not sure why, but it didn't bother me through most of it. Def. recommended for anyone that enjoys watching, but not always hearing.
Also rewatched Exit Through the Gift Shop since I didn't really give it my full attention the first time. Cool for the first 45 minutes but then gets kinda lame. Not so recommended.

Watched Dark Days just now. Its a documentary about some homeless people who lived in a subway tunnel.
It has a happy ending, for those of you who are into that.
Very very worth watching.

Started watching Sunset Limited with Tommy Lee and Samuel L. Jackson and couldnt get into that either

it's a great film. If you get a chance try to track down the dvd and check out the "making of" and where are they now features. As good and interesting as the original film

Don't watch Insidious. Fuck sakes man. The first 30 minutes of the movie were pretty scary. I laughed a little when the shadow guy was dancing to Tiny Tim, but it was still creepy.
But then it just went to complete shit. Theres some satan dude or something trying to take over the boys soul (boys hole lol) and it honestly looks like the satan from Tenacious D and the pick of destiny.

I was watching a crazy movie last night called Casanova from 1976 on hbo, it was weirdest movie I've seen in a while. Weird pervy movie, it was really funny but I fell asleep the last half hour because I was drunk and it was like 3am.
Then today I watched Midnight in Paris it was really good too.

confessions of a porn addict was pretty funny. not the best movie but funny enough to kill a boring morning haha. I'd prolly never watch it again but I'm glad I did.

A french movie call "Martyr" very good to watch but if you have a weak stomach then stay away from it lol
