watched animal kingdom last night with my wife.. very hard core movie and i´m very glad it wasn´t american. quality film but a bit too much for what i was expecting (i hoped for something a little lighter...)
good stuff!

just watched "Vampire Girl vs Frankenstein Girl"
I've seen it before but it was on netflix so I watched it again
goofy, campy, Japanese wackiness, and gallons of blood
if this sort of movie looks appealing you'll love it otherwise move along

Didn't finish watching the last 15 minutes of the rum diaries but I did enjoy what I saw of it. I couldn't stop laughing during that trip scene

watched 'The Woman in Black' today; should have seen it in the theatre, i might still do just that (and for the $10 ticket price!). i thought it was very well made/shot and i was extremely satisfied with it overall -- especially for something of the horror genre. just goes to show you it doesn't have to be rated R to be a wonderful movie. the suspense was amazing and there were no gaping plot holes i could find. everything resolved itself with a slightly unconventional ending that left me feeling utterly satisfied with the entire experience.
yeah, i think i'm going to have to see this in the theatre as well. i really enjoyed it and i think it would be at least 10x better on the big screen. i won't even mind seeing it a second time as it will be a new experience entirely from a 15" laptop screen, albeit with pretty decent computer speakers.
if you are going to see this, i definitely recommend paying the money to go and see it. at first i couldn't get over the whole "hey, it's Harry Potter" thing, but it was a brilliant movie and it gives me hope for movies of this genre in the future (i am so sick of the whole hand-held shaky cam schtick for horror that i want to vomit even just thinking about it let alone watching it). this was extremely well shot and acted with a fairly original story told in a compelling. definitely worth the ticket price over a free download.

That right there is why I don't want to see Rum Diary: its just capitalizing on the Gonzo perception vs. the actual story. There is no "trip scene" in the book, and there's little in the way of overarching conflict, I'll stick to HST over Hollywood.

Movie was way disappointing. I thought they did a good job on Fear and Loathing.

wasn't the rum diary written before Hunter even developed his whole Gonzo schtick?
PS if you like Hunter's style of journalism, you should check out Orwell's "down and out in Paris and London". It's where he got most of his ideas about subjective documentation, and really shows what a great writer orwell really was (Both he and Huxley did their best work in non-fiction, IMO)
Watched the Gantz series last night. Awesome ultra violent films based on a pretty cool manga series
