That was a waste of my life... i don't care about some guy who gets lucky for a winning. Yes... internet poker is 100% luck.

This guy lost a million bucks in two months? I never got into this but I'd fucking shoot myself if i was losing 25k a day! that's fucking crazy. But I'm a quitter. I would win like $50 and fucking be ecstatic. then be done with it. also, ditto what CS just said.

Ohhh, retract my name from that. I can't say that. I try to stay away from making declarations of 100% certainty.

Oh, so you just don't care. Ok
To people that say it's just luck, you're an idiot I've lived off of it for the past 8 months. Fairly comfortably I might add. It's really more math and reading the player than anything. Takes some practice, but it's not all luck. I'm getting to where I can put people on hands like 80% of the time now, and I'm usually right actually.

IRL poker is mostly luck, although there is some skill to it. However over the internet it is PURELY luck.

Poker is a science actually in that probability is a science. If you are good with probability and bet consistently then you will come out on top. Sure there are ups and downs, but that does with probability.

Exactly, you can only be so good at betting based on probability. Any game based on probability is fundamentally based on how lucky you get.

Yeah reading probability isn't luck. You can do the same with blackjack, which certainly has more luck factor involved, yet if you are good you can still come out on top in the long run if you're good with probability.
I guess you could say your odds of winning on one hand is luck but winning in the long run depends on skill.

Dude, just stop while you're somewhat ahead. You're wrong, plain and simple. There's luck involved, yes, it's actually called variance. But tell me this, when you see it on tv, why is it always the same faces? You mean to tell me that out of the millions of poker players all over the world, amateur or pro, that those guys are the luckiest of them all?Quote:

The long run is what it's all about. When I first started playing, I was losing money out the ass. Read up, learned some stuff, that doesn't happen anymore No millionaire by any means, but for a single guy with a lot on his plate, it does the trick.

Of course not, but probability is equated to luck. I play poker, i prefer texas hold em' but i also play other types of poker. While there is definitly skill involved in it, it is mostly luck... that is why phil said "If luck wasn't involved, i would win every time."

So how does one get into online poker? Where you play, where should one read up and how much extra cash you make on average?

Why hasn't some smart motherfucker created a bot based on some algorithms dealing with poker probability and how to bet accordingly? Or have they?

What other types of poker you play? And probability isn't equated to luck. If I have 10% equity in a hand, which makes me a huge dog and I wouldn't be in the hand in the first place, but on average, one out of every ten times, I'll win. Luck doesn't tell me that, the math did To be honest, I think you're just trolling

You either deposit onto the site or win some money in a freeroll to get started. You should read and learn anything you can about poker, books, internet forums, and once you've learned it, learn it again. Watch videos, talk to people, and play to get experience. You're probably going to lose at first, but if you stick with it, you can win. It takes some dedication, and I didn't think that it did at first and lost a few hundred, but all in all, I'm way up over that now and feel like I'm a way better player. Depends on what stakes you're playing as to how much you can expect to make. They have software out now, I don't really use it that much like I used to, but it can show you where you're losing, what position at the table in which you're losing or winning, what hands, graphs, player histories and tendencies, etc. etc. But the variance is higher in the lowest stakes because of donks playing stupid cards, 93 off, 27, etc. etc. and getting lucky with them. If you play them right though, you can take their money like taking candy from a baby. Once you move up in stakes though, you won't have as high of variance, but the games do get tougher because of better players.

It could never be done because of different players playing differently. One player might not play a hand the same way as another player. This player might call a bet with 3rd pair, where as another player might not. There's no clear cut way to do things, it's a mixture of style, math, position, player histories, fold equity, hand ranges, odds, implied odds, and a bunch of other shit in poker. Doyle Brunson (legendary player) wrote about it in a book he wrote back in the 70s that revolutionized poker. It's called Super System. I actually have it. I was thinking the same thing when I first started playing, but he explains it rather well in the book.

As much as I hate
I mean HATE
the business of poker, poker players, etc...
(I used to love it before I dealt for 5 years)
I must admit, there is much skill involved, even online.
I would rather not say exactly where I worked and how long just because I am a little weird or even paranoid about people knowing who I am.....
Let's just say I have a friend who dated a few poker players and I have seen enough dealing and being around poker people in general to know the majority of them are scumbags.

Hm, if you say so. From what I know, when one poker players owes another money, it usually gets paid because if it isn't, no other player will give them action on prop bets or anything else and they'll pretty much be blackballed in like the community of players. What they do outside of the table is none of my concern. I just want their money, couldn't care less about anything else. Well, I take that back actually, any information you have on a player can help you get reads on him, so I'll take anything I can get as far as info goes. But as far as debts being paid, I know most players keep their word as far as side bets or whatever and paying what they owe. From what I can tell anyway. Not sure who you were hangin out with or whatever, but they do indeed sound like douchebags.

Poker brings out the worst in people. Even at the lowest limits. I have seen more then once, a player gets a loan, then never pays and disappears from the poker room forever.

cuz somebody probably killed him in vegas anyway.
that doesn't say much for poker, that says something for gambling in general and being able to control it.
