If you don't have AC in the grow area you could use dry ice, but I really think it would take a whole helluva lot to actually drop your temps down low and sustain them for long enough to cause the pigmentation switch. If the room is climate controlled just blast the AC, or even if it has an AC vent in the area you could close off the rest in the house and let that one blast 'em with cold air for a while.

I've heard putting cold water in the resovoir or watering with cold water will shock the shit out of them and cause growth to slow considerably or even stop too, so I'd stay away from that.

I understand for 'non-cultivators' purple is like the holy grail of weed or whatever, and I do agree it looks really cool and I enjoy seeing it. When it comes down to it though, its nothing special.. I figured this out at about the age of 15 when I planted some bagseed outdoors late and they ended up going into october. They started turning a brilliant deep purple and everyone that saw it was blown the fuck away and thought it was some sort of awesome genetics from bought seeds and kept asking what I payed for them.. I had the common sense to figure out the seasonal climate change had to be the cause because the seeds weren't super dank or anything, and the bag they came from damn sure wasn't purple.

Even my cuz goes nuts over purples, even though I've explained to him numerous times what it is.. Its like, he gets higher when its purple or something. Placebo effect I suppose.

Everyone I know is that way though, and the prices are definitely up when its purple, even when its the smallest little specks.. "You see it!? you see it!? got purps right there! look at it!"

RLY, How has marijuana lasted so long and not have evolved to survive early winters and frosts and stuff. They can handle cold pretty well compared to how difficult they are to manage all the other time.

no dry ice will evaporate into carbon dioxide so if you dont have co2 you can buy dry ice (thrifty, ralphs, etc...) to raise co2 levels but for color use ice water to flush your plant and give it 3 days of pure darkness before cutting, thats pushed a lot of color out for me in the past.
