LSTing Sativas
    #413870 - 05/08/10 10:39 AM (13 years, 11 months ago)

Hello LSTing growerites!

I'm currently growing a strain called "Arjan's Haze #1" from greenhouse seeds. It's a 80-20 sativa-indica mix, supposedly Nevilles Haze x G-13 Sativa. I guess Arjan was so proud of it, he had to put his name on it. It has a very pinetree-like growth pattern with branches coming out at 70-80° angle from the main stem.

Tying has worked out very well so far. The first LST grow I had Lemon Skunk and Hawaiian Snow together, and so I didn't get them both to same height level (see growlog link in sig). The following and most recent grow I had a feminized cheese bean (not the UK Cheese but the results were decent) and it responded really well being tied down. I attribute this success to cheeses small stature and bushy genetics.

The bending here was simply a 90° turn at the base of the stem and then I let it grow upwards again at the edge of the pot.

Here's a diagram of the current plan for the AH#1:

And so my question is, for those large lanky sativas, what tying pattern has worked out best for you? Why do some plants branches bend and reach for the light while others will gladly grow downwards in to the pot?

You got the right idea, depending on the size you are going to grow it to I would think about possibly putting a screen on top of it

just a thought

but you would be fine with the diagram you have drawn out
