Why is strain selection so hard?
    #412114 - 05/04/10 09:34 PM (13 years, 10 months ago)

I'm going fuckin bananas trying to decide what strain I'm going to grow next.

Why does there have to be so many good ones to pick from?!?

I've never seen a properly grown SSH that didn't make me orgasm just looking at it.

The seed banks make it hard by over describing the plants and blowing smoke up the consumers asshole. Every strain is the best thing on the planet.

Nearly. I love it, you can find all sorts of phenos in it anything from a cash cropping indica to a haze dominant sativa.

:ilold:

Not all strains are made equal, being as the strain is a hybrid of 3 of the most used strains in breeding furthered by thousands (literally) of selections.

It took Neville years to create the SuperSilverHaze.

Back in the HS days, SSH was HUGE in Minneapolis.  Shit was everywhere.  It's got a really airy structure, and an 1/8 looked like 7 grams easily, but damn boy do I remember it being some of the most mind-blowing herb I've ever smelled/smoked.  Tasted so unique

SuperSilverHaze is probably my first choice for running a haze hybrid from seed.

Neville's Haze is insane if you have the patience for it.

Taste is nice but doesn't do much if you don't care much for effects.

I figure effect is almost a given. Noone wants to grow shit that doesn;t get you high, hehehe.

I guess I could have specified a little better.

Mind-blowing, 8 week, fruity tasting shiznit.

Last stuff I grew was the god bud and its fuking amazing.

The pheno I saved was very aromatic(almost too much), but I figured if it smells really good it adds to the flavor.

It finishes is 9 weeks unlike the other phenos which where 10+.

It's also pretty dense.

Everyone I smoke with says its the best weed they've ever smoked.

I'm looking for something similar with a different taste basically.

I don't want to sacrifice yield though.

Godbud is really floral tasting and I would like to get something more fruity maybe.

They where from seed. BCseedking.

I've heard mixed reviews about BCSK but the shit is really good.

I like the fact it was in Canada and got my seeds in 4 days but I'm willing to try out seed boutique if the stuff is superior.

Remember when picking a strain to be sure you like the parents that make up the strain you are choosing to grow. That way no matter which of the parents the plants lean toward you don't get disappointed.:potleaf:

Or make your own strains that way you have what you want after a little bit of work. :happyweed:

Its hard to pick a strain because the descriptions are all written by people who are trying to sell the seeds to you.

They all sound :whacker:able because they want your money

Of course it's happening inside your head.
Why should that mean it isn't real?

Some banks put real effort into producing a strain and have the most badass p1 stock imaginable.

Mr Nice puts a ton of care into their strains some of the plants share genetics but that doesn't take anything away from their originality.

For example they use some of the haze males in a lot of crosses and if they didn't they wouldn't be able to release a good variety of strains. Variety is the spice of life.

I end up finding something I like then I spend hours reading growlogs and smoke reports of that strain.

Hard part is finding grows of strains from the vendors you want.

I guess not really. There's just so much to choose from!!!

I really want bog stuff but cant afford to risk not getting the seeds from unreliable vendors.

I think I'm just gunna stick with BCSK until I get some more cash to risk on other stuff.

At least that narrows my choices down.

Plus, I can only work on 1 strain at a time because I have to tweak it down and find the best of the best.

Then I can move on to another.

seedboutique and seedbay are very reliable. ive never not recieved an order but I always send MO which is 1/2 of the risk already so they can't deny cashing it.

also, BOG gear isn't that great IMO. I like his lifesaver but all his other strains that i've tried are lacking. We grew out Lifesaver, Sourbubble bx1 and bx3, Bogbubble, Bogglegum, and Blue Moonrocks.

Mr.Nice is the real deal for good gear.

I've read to many horror story's regarding seed boutique to risk the 100 bucks at this time.

I bet they are pretty reliable but I just cant risk it.

I'm broke as hell. I cant afford gas let alone seeds but growing is literally my life. I'll walk if I have to as long as I get some new seeds ROFL.

Man I am pathetic...
