sick maui, need help.
    #349059 - 01/17/10 04:16 PM (14 years, 2 months ago)

this is my maui, im growing from seed, in dwc, and it has done wonderfully the whole grow until today. Last night ph was at 6.2 so i added acid buffer but added a little to much, it was below 5.0, and i just recently switched to vegetative stage nutrient amount, last week. Could it be the p.h. drop over night, to many nutrients, not enough?

If it went down to below 5 that could be your culprit.  Did you return it back to normal after that??

As long as you corrected it as soon as it happened it shouldn't really be a problem.  If it set over night at below 5 that could hurt your plants a bit.  But they would still recover, you'd just get diminished yields in the end.

Yeah the plant will be fine - keep the PH in check. Whenever, I tear out my rez and give it a good scrub, PH is always off for days when I refill it. Though, my issue usually is alkalinity.

Nice setup too!

What kind of nutes are you using?

I'm no hydro guy, and far from an experienced grower, but I might recommend throwing a really light dose of a bunch of micro nutrients at it... Get a little cal-mag and a superthrive type concoction in there just so you know it's not something obscure like zinc (hypothetical) or other micro nute.

I'm leaning towards a Mg def.  If you're sure your Ph is at the correct level, try feeding some epsom salts or a solution like Cal/Mag.

Im using the flora series, im going to get some epsom salts, any recommendation on amount per gallon or how much for a 15 gallon resevoir.

Also, should i find some new nutes that have micro nutes, i was thinking using flora nova with seawead extract.
