Yes! you are a master cultivator and a psychic.  Thanks for those graphics.  That clears up alot for many others as well im sure.

How effective would that tungsten halogen be at this point?

Its just a 500 watt shop light in which i removed the uv filter.  I felt the plant would make more use of the unfiltered light.  I incorporate it 1 hour in the morning and 1 hour before i turn them all off and its intensity far surpasses that of my cfl's by about 6 times.  Is it just a waste of electricity?

Anyone have experience flowering with tungsten halogen?

Are their t type, or j type metal halide or mercury bulbs i can buy and replace the halogen?

Find out the Kelvin temp on the light and the total lumen output from the bulb.  Halogen lights get extremely hot, so in the end it may be very inefficient compared to a couple of cfl's strung together.

So after a little investigating,  the halogen light turns only a max of 20 lumens per watt.  As you stated previously coda, the light wastes much energy by heating profusely.  And almost a quarter of the wavelengths are so far red and almost infrared that i beleive the plant wont make any use of them at all.  So im guessing  that the color temperature probably averages out around 500K.  Im glad i havnt been leaving this light on for all those 12 hours seeing as it would have been a waste.

Best luminous efficacy (lumens/watt) i could calculate came from a t-5 and t-8 fluorescent and a low pressure sodium.  High pressure wasnt too far behind.

Best overall luminous efficiency came from those previously stated and also included a whitelight screwbody L.E.D.

Best bang for our buck seems to be fluorescent and gas discharge.

As bright as this halogen was i figured it to be a bit more of a heavy hitter than this.

So to answer your question... finally, this halogen was only producing about 1500-2000 visible lumens and its color temp is probably about 500K.  Couldnt really find a number in stone for the kelvin.  So turns out those 2 small cfl's were actually producing more visible lumens by almost two times with 6 times as few watts.  Hows that for a mind fuck
