Overwatering with a Passive Wick system
    #331161 - 12/14/09 11:09 AM (6 years, 11 months ago)

Hi guys I am experimenting with a passive wick system and noticed one of my plants developing brown spots (at the tips) on the leaves and the new leaves are growing with a grey/brown tint. I'll try to get some pics up later all I have is a cell phone camera though so I don't know if it'd be much help.

My understanding was that a wick system would use just the moisture that's necessary... So if it's an over-watering issue maybe my soil mix holds too much water?

Any help or ideas would be helpful, and if you think pics will really help I'll get them up soon. Thanks for the help guys.

When I was going to take the picture, I noticed it affecting one of my new seedlings as well, here is the pic, it's the best I can do.

The plants are vegging under 300w of HPS so I doubt light is the issue. I'm treating them for nutrient burn, flushed them well, and will wait and see what happens.

well whatever light you had that seedling under when it was young was not sufficient.  Look at the space between the stem and cotes, if that's a full size fork holding that sprout up it's way stretched.

LOL yup, they work great. As you can see in the pic, only the HEAD of the fork is visible, the stem is about 2 1/2 inches and the nodes are very close. the pic is just bad quality. If you guys have nothing else to comment about other than the light which I can assure you is not an issue, stop posting to this thread. The issue has sorted itself out anyway, seems that they were being fed too much and have
been flushed and are doing fine.
