A theoretical question. Lets say a person was going to use a grow cab with a 20"x24" area, with the highest point the light could go would be about 4ft 6". How tall would you let the plants get before flowering?
it would really depend on the type of light you're using. if it's an CFL, you'll be able to let the tops get quite a bit closer with now worry of burning. it it's an HPS or MH then you will want to leave 6" or maybe more if it's over 400w.
I have a similar size cab and use a 400w hps. i generally trigger once they hit about 12". a good rule of thumb is to assume they will at least double in height. you might have to give it a try and see what happens. each strain is different. i find they stop growing(height) after 4 weeks of flowering.
