Never done it but everyone tells me different things about it. I usually eat em dried on neutella and bread and some orange juice  . But the last time I ground them up and added them to peanutbutter. It was pretty good and I ate some grapes and stuff and they were amazing while tripping. I just bought a bunch of fruit and my god was it good.

I tried it once. Was too intense for me and was the only bad trip i have had my whole life!

So I thought I would update since I just put my spawn and my substrate in my monotub. I dont have any pictures of the process (I was trying to do it fast and be as sterile as possible). But basically I pasturized my Coco coir and waited over night for it to cool. Then layered spawn and sub in my tub.

Did they start pinning(any pics if they are)? Did you dunk em first?

Lol no they wont pin for another 1 1/2 at least. Dunking is something you do after the first flush to replenish the moisture that is lost.

You're birthing before you're seeing pinning? Why? Last grow I did I'd done some reading and it said dunking before the first flush can increase your overall yield.

I'm not birthing....I'm letting the spawn colonize the Coco Coir. Then birthing. But ya about the dunking its pointless for me before the first flush because the coir has enough water in it in the first place. Anyways you shouldnt have to dunk if you get the water content right in the first place. I have only dunked after the first flush if needed.

Triptonic's got the right idea. I wouldn't recommend dunking a monotub grow before your first flush for the reasons he mentioned. Buddy, you're talking about for cakes. For PF cakes a lot of people do a dunk and roll prior to beginning the birth after each flush. It will really help your cakes though. That's because the cakes aren't saturated with water as they could be. And we all know what 90% of the mushroom is made of. I never had a lot of luck with dunking my monotubs. They seem to get contaminations really easy. Are you going to dunk this tub after your first flush?

Oh right. I'm not entirely sure what a monotub is now. I thought it was just like a rubbermaid thing for keeping the humidity high for his bird seed cakes. My bad.

that was a quick response! Hopefully that shit will colonize quickly and christmas morning brings you something LARGE. I equate birthing to xmas morning. When you get up in the morning I would head straight for the tub (as i bet you do too) to see the development overnight. I love it and can't wait for that on this grow!

his bird seed isn't a cake. Didn't you notice he was shaking the jars throughout the thread? You break up the seed to provide more colonization points. Each of those seeds is loaded with it. It really helps to speed up colonization. You can do the same thing with pf cakes too.

A monotub basically is covered in substrate and spawn and produces much more mushrooms than cakes do.
