I think I'm going to harvest soon maybe tomorrow, seeing as how some of the trichomes are turning amber...at least from what I can tell from some pics. What do you guys think?

the picture wont inflate, but i dont see any trichomes? and theres practically no bud...dont harvest tomarrow....it will be a waste, you have nothing to lose to let it go longer......it should buds should pack in tighter even if it takes a little while.......

i dont think its been a full 2 months since you've flowered.... but anyway i flower for around 2 months or so in my hydro setup, and your using soil so it will take longer, the amber triches are most likely from stress, if the stress is not that bad (which it doesnt look as bad as what ive seen before) it can fix itself....

i take that back, it does look stressed......the pix wont inflate but all i can say is flush it for a little while and start it back on a diluted ph balanced nute solution and see if any positive changes occur in growth.......... but anyway the plant definately needs more time though.....

Looks pretty dark green, you're not supplementing with N are you? Couple other things: Seriously, don't harvest yet, give those budsites a chance to fill in and mature or you'll be disappointed with your product (as in the potency and effect will suck). You know as well as anyone how long Sativa leaning strains can run. Second, since it looks like you've got a lot of N in there, and you're flowering, I would bet you could take some late clones and still have them root...

Could have a lot of nitrogen but I dont think so....I mean ya im using miracle grow but this is my second flush of the damn thing lol. I will let it mature more but how long am I looking at? I really just dont have the supplies to make my grow very good haha. Im also using miracle grow bloom booster, but only once a month. And that has a higher [P] rating.
O and BTW I did actually take clones haha or at least one....currently rooting.

Haven't personally used Miracle Grow soil what kind of NPK does the bag say? Is this your BB x THS? Cuz if its a significantly thai leaning pheno it could go another month, especially if that soil is N heavy. Use that bloom booster at half strength but increase the frequency, and maybe go 11/13 on your light cycle (Equatorial Sativas often need a pretty dramatic dark period). The other thing about true Sativas is that many are VERY N sensitive, so too much N can significantly delay maturity. Hope that helps some. Oh, and start a compost pile, GREAT soil, almost free!

I see. Even in your grow log its just so damn green! I gotta think there's too much Nitrogen in there. On page eleven of the journal-the full plant picture-is that a good representation of the color? Beyond the Sativa characteristics, and the macro-nutes I got nothin' without standing in the room with your plants. You don't happen to live in Kansas do you?

I'm fairly sure it might be a PH problem as well... I wish I could just come on over and asess the situation! I'm pretty sure his bagseed is about 75/25 Ind/Sat. It's just taking so long because he's only got about 50w of CFL's on it. It's very healthy it just takes longer with that amount of light. You do the best with what you can and he has done a superior job for a first attempt. My 1st try my plants didn't make it past 3 weeks.

Ya update....seems to me that the top of the plant is getting mottled with lime green and dark green....dont know what deficincy that is. But my buddy came over the other day (he has a PH tester) my water after I balanced it was 6.0 and thats the lowest I can seem to get it.

AHA! This is too low! The very lowest I adjust my soil is 6.2 and I (intentionally) let it swing all the way up to 6.7 or 6.8 and then adjust it back down again. In a soil grow, as opposed to hydro, the pH needs to be a little more basic; at 6 you're locking out magnesium AND calcium which are critical during flowering. Get that pH up around 6.5 for optimal uptake of Ca and Mg

Been takin' advice from hydro growers?
Honestly though, you are getting to learn a helluva lot more than somebody who just has a clean and easy first grow... Once you're done with your first shot I'm gonna come up and you and I will build a real setup and a compost pile; if you've done this well with fuckin' MG and some fluorescents I know that thumb is dark green!

the ideal ph is around 6.5-7.0 for soil, and for hydro - around 5.5-6.5

Well sorry to say guys but today I woke up and my plant was dead with crunchy leaves....I had to harvest even though I didnt want to. But I found out what the problem was, or at least what I think it was. I cut the main stem near the bottom of the plant and the hole that brings water/nutes up was completely closed. Telling me that it might have been water/nute locked out. I got a clone off her so I have that rooting right now but I dont know if its going to take or not. My next question is what is the standard drying/curing procedure. I tried looking but I couldnt find really anything. Do I just hang it upside down for a week or so? And then put it in a mason jar and burp it once a day? What do you guys do?

People have told me to throw it into a paper sack in a dark closet for a week. Then into normal storage. Never tried this but have heard about this technique of curing alot lately?
edit: if anyone else has done this type of cure please elaborate?

I have heard of the brown paper bag method for curing. But what about drying lol how long do I dry them for? Till the stems snap?

well thats the thing i heard, was the paper sack dries and cures the herb. But i may have misunderstood that whole thing. What i understood was the week in the brown paper sack was it. After the week it is dry and cured to supposed perfection?

The initial drying process can vary depending on how dense and thick your colas are, including how well you trimmed the bud.
Step 1 is of course to trim off the excess leafiness, to your taste. Then hang 'em by their stems and use a fan to gently circulate fresh air around them; the force of the wind should not move or sway the colas while they rest.
Now depending on the density of the final product, it may take anywhere from one to several days for the buds to have lost enough moisture to safely stow them in some jars. As a general rule of thumb, it'll be safe to put them into jars when you can easily break the stems with your fingers. If it's soft and bendy, let it dry a while longer.
Once you have them in canning jars - remember not to pack the jars too tightly! - keep them in a cool dark area and vent the jars by opening the lids and agitating the air in the jar. Venting should be performed at least once every twelve hours for the first week. After that, vent the jars daily for at least another two weeks.
Within one to two months from harvest, the buds will have matured into their prime smokeable state.
