you act like I would be cutting them a check to go do it, randomly.

no your taxes would increase. but in return YOU would have free healthcare.

majority of my family live in a country with socialized medicine and it is a great system. they dont have to worry about perscriptions (my grandparents) and no one has to worrie about financial hardship if someone thing happens to themselves or a loved one. its quite nice

It should definitely be reserved to tax paying citizens. if you file your taxes, then you should have healthcare.

but it is not reserved to tax paying citizens. it will also be given to those who do not pay taxes, which is a significant proportion of society. they should pay their own way.

i would rather not pay the extra taxes and be able to use the money how i see fit, whether it be through my own medical insurance program or by saving it. MY choice.

government intervention is not the answer. you will never convince me differently, so arguing with me will not change a thing. i am libertarian. look that up. http://www.lp.org/

Quote:

Healthcare
Making Healthcare Safe and Affordable

As recently as the 1960s, low-cost health insurance was available to virtually everyone in America - including people with existing medical problems. Doctors made house calls. A hospital stay cost only a few days' pay. Charity hospitals were available to take care of families who could not afford to pay for healthcare.

Since then the federal government has increasingly intervened through Medicare, Medicaid, the HMO Act and tens of thousands of regulations on doctors, hospitals and health-insurance companies.
Today, more than 50 percent of all healthcare dollars are spent by the government.

Health insurance costs are skyrocketing. Government health programs are heading for bankruptcy. Politicians continue to pile on the regulations.

The Libertarian Party knows the only healthcare reforms that will make a real difference are those that draw on the strength of the free market.

The Libertarian Party will work towards the following:

1. Establish Medical Saving Accounts.

Under this program, you could deposit tax-free money into a Medical Savings Account (MSA). Whenever you need the money to pay medical bills, you will be able to withdraw it. For individuals without an MSA, the Libertarian Party will work to make all healthcare expenditures 100 percent tax deductible.

2. Deregulate the healthcare industry.

We should repeal all government policies that increase health costs and decrease the availability of medical services. For example, every state has laws that mandate coverage of specific disabilities and diseases. These laws reduce consumer choice and increase the cost of health insurance. By making insurance more expensive, mandated benefits increase the number of uninsured American workers.

3. Remove barriers to safe, affordable medicines.

We should replace harmful government agencies like the Food & Drug Administration (FDA) with more agile, free-market alternatives. The mission of the FDA is to protect us from unsafe medicines. In fact, the FDA has driven up healthcare costs and deprived millions of Americans of much-needed treatments. For example, during a 10-year delay in approving Propanolol Propranolol (a heart medication for treating angina and hypertension), approximately 100,000 people died who could have been treated with this lifesaving drug. Bureaucratic roadblocks kill sick Americans.

anyways i like you KP, i'm tired of arguing, those are my views. if you don't like them you can feel free to keep arguing but it won't change a thing. it is how i feel and believe. i hate obama and you can do nothing to change that either. he is for more government when i am STRONGLY against government. it's my personal beliefs and opinions. that is the last you will hear from me on this opinion.

way to fall victim to the "us-vs-them" tactics of the "two party system" that is american politics. both candidates are essentially the same. neither will change monetary policy, neither will change drug policy (even tho obama has said some stuff about it, it won't happen. the most we'd get is no more raids on clinics, MAYBE), obama will lead us out of vietnam and into cambodia/laos and mccain will keep fighting the NVA. both voted for the bailout, both would have to raise taxes. the economy is fucked for a while under either president, because neither is willing to take on the bankers. that would be a faux pas.

oh oops i mean iraq and afghanistan.

a vote for third party candidates will be more effective than just voting against mccain, because you voice your dissatisfaction with the choices on both sides (unless you're actually really excited about obama)

i'm voting for Chuck Baldwin

and ya, the dems don't take over until January 20 (for pres), and Jan 3 (for congress)

now i'll probably get all these obama supporters all pissed off at me now, but whatever

u can't vote ron paul anyways since he's only running as a republican.

also bob barr sucks.  he's changed his politics so many times it's hard to figure out what he stands for anymore.

seeing as he's not an independent I would think no.  I believe u have to be elected in either party's primary in order to run for the party.

either way he would never accumulate enough votes to be elected.  sad.

ron paul will be on the ballot in some states.

he is on it in montana, lousiana, and maybe a couple others.

he is on montana's as the Constitution party candidate, and lousiana as the Lousiana Taxpayer's Party candidate.

he is also an accepted write in candidate in certain states. google it.

unfortunately, ron paul is not an accepted write in in california, so i'll be writing in chuck baldwin!
