Whatchoo workin' on?
    #842361 - 01/17/20 08:22 AM (4 years, 2 months ago)

Side projects, home-improvement projects, hobbies...

Whatchoo got goin' on?

I'm working on some waste-reduction projects. Making cold-process soaps from leftover bacon fat, making bone broth from leftover roast chicken carcasses and making stews from vegetables that would otherwise go bad.

I'm also playing around with some micro-controllers, solid-state sensors, and python scripts for the purpose of building my own greenhouse automation system.

All of my non-perishable projects are moving crazy slow, due to my coursework and research...but its good to periodically work on something you have initiated yourself.

learning autobody but quit my first job the 2nd day
might try to learn welding or go back to school for machinist

ordered a guitar, that is coming in the mail
the tuner i bought stopped working the next day
either it's that or the adaptor, but the other adaptor i tried didn't work either
think it's the tuner

going to try to buy a 2018 car monday
my 17 year old car is nice but i think once people saw me driving it they'd stop talking to me

Well, when my brother in laws mother died (Dec of '18), her house became his. He wanted me to stay in it till he could get it fixed up and sold. We worked on getting it ready for me to live in thru the summer. His mother was a packrat and had a bunch of shit that needed to be thrown out prior to me moving in.

We worked on it when we could, he gets his daughter on odd weekends so we had to work around that and his schedule. I'm on parole so it's hard for me to just up and go, so I just let my BIL get this thing done at his pace.

The house, located right on the Arkansas River in north-central Arkansas, had not been lived in for over six months, so my BIL had set the Thermo to 85 to save him some money since nobody was living there.

I had gone up there by myself to hook up the washer and dryer and get a better idea of the work I would need to do once I was living there full time. As I'm looking the place over I see what I think to be dust on the pillow and go to wipe it off to gauge how bad it was.

It was not dust. :nonono:

It was mold!! :crankey:

FUCK!!!

:megacrankey:

You can't keep a house, by a huge river in Arkansas, at 85 degrees, in the summer, and not expect mold to grow on all the furniture and cloth. As I investigate farther, I see that the mold is indeed EVERYWHERE.

This was back in the late summer, early fall; before Halloween.

We have solved the mold issue, but it took a bit longer than expected.

Now the only thing left to do is haul off all the garbage (trash and old carpet). We had the place ready before the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays hit, but never got up there to take away all the trash. We have plans to do that soon, so I hope to be in a place of my own for a few months while we get that place ready to sell.

Until then, I'm still living with my sister and her husband doing my normal gig of keeping her house and yard clean.

How did you get rid of the mold?

I am building a mortise and tenon fence on my property and in the summer I will start a brand new pole barn. I can't wait. I am going to put the barn like right next to the cabin so I can tend to the animals easier. You see that a lot in Maine.

I am also making my goat a hat out of squirrel hides. Their ears get very cold in Maine and run the risk of frostbite.

After we pulled all the carpet up and infested curtains down we sprayed the floors and walls with a 50/50 - bleach/water solution then set off some mold bombs.

If I give you 2 thumbs up; I gave you a thumbs up.

If I gave you 1 thumbs up; it's thumbs up and not a thumb up.

The fuck...

I got banned for comparing the National Origins Formula verses the Hart Cellar Act.

And that was in OTD.
