Hypothetically speaking, if one had a single hypothetical small plant grown as a pet project, and this plant happened to be within a couple weeks of harvest, solid buds formed/forming and half the hairs turning amber, and the light switch went on the fritz ... and say the lights were left on for 24 hours as a result, until they were manually turned off... what should one do now? and would this kill the flowering cycle?

right... and how would you begin flowering then?

Interrupting the light cycle with more light is harder on the plant than interrupting it with darkness, but since its already happened, not much you can do but put it back on 12/12. It certainly isn't good for the plant, but I'm sure an additional twelve hours of light hasn't caused too much harm. Ultimately it reverts back to vegetative growth if the light cycle changes towards having more light again, and light stress could cause hermies, so just keep an eye on that.
