Tired of having to wash the bong with salt and alcohol every couple of days to keep the resin off your glass piece? Or do you have a piece that's so hard to clean that its not even really worth smoking out of? The solution is simple: add a little bit of cooking oil to your bong water and let it do all the work.
Its best to start clean and always add some when you change the water. About a tablespoon or two does it depending on the size piece. You can use any type of oil you have around the house. Some oils have more flavor than others and I use MCT coconut oil (liquid at room temp) that is mostly odorless and clear. Most are non-invasive but will add a hint of flavor the few tokes. The oil starts to get nasty looking after a few days but the glass will stay clean.
If your piece is already dirty adding oil will start to clean it while you smoke. It usually won't clean as well as salt/alcohol will but can loosen a lot of what's there.
This is after a few bowls. No more clogs in my honeycomb or resin coating above the water line.

Alcohol will add some flavor for sure. Wine is a good addition if you want that effect. It was enough to get me feeling the effects ever so slightly.
Any flavor the oil has will disappear after a rip or two.
