Anybdoy into hiking?
    #600460 - 12/08/11 11:48 AM (12 years, 4 months ago)

I've been a strong proponent of nature and adventurously long walks all my life, but recently I've been getting into actually finding trails and learning what the hobby is about. Just bought some new gear and I'm planning on a few 2-3 day ventures into the Appalachia's in the upcoming month. The convenience of having 4 days off work every week .

I'd love to do all 2,100+ miles of the AT one day. No. I am going to do it one day. Just really need some training first. Other than a few hidden local areas all I've really done is some mountain in Colorado that I hit up after ballsach wouldn't answer his phone, a long and arduous path scrambling up cliffs in the Hollywood hills to Griffith Observatory with mel_launta, and the time I spent an entire day lost in the Smokey Mtns just after I first moved to America. Probably never much over 10 miles.

Gonna try to go the ultralight route. Got my big three (tent, pack, and sleeping bag) under 10lb, and with clothes and food and everything else it'll hopefully stay around 20lbs which would be phenomenal.

Experience or advice?

Man that mountain to the observatory was a bitch! But the view was worth it in the end. I'm purchasing my hammock n shizz when more funds come through. :bliss:

Dude apparently that crazyass tunnel was the same tunnel to Tunetown in Who Framed Roger Rabbit and it was also used in Back To The Future.  :dizope:
