I'm getting ready to set up a DR60 Secret Jardin grow tent (2' x 2' x 5'). The closet it will be in can reach 82 degrees F on a sunny afternoon, like it is today, in the middle of November! Most days in the winter, it will probably be around 76 degrees.
Are these conditions too warm for a 250W HPS with a cooltube, venting out of the closet into the room? I was thinking of running the light at night to help with the heat.
The other option I was considering is 10 42W CFL's. Wouldn't ten of those generate a good amount of heat too, though?
You say you can exhaust a cool tube out of the closet and into the room. Can you also find a way to bring air into the closet from the room? As near to the floor and as far from the exhaust as possible.
If you can do this, then what is the temperature of the room? That will determine if you can run an HPS.
And yes, 10 42W CFLs will generate a shitload of heat as well. HPS is actually a better bang for your buck as far as lumen output:heat ratio.
Well, the closet has sliding doors, and I was thinking of leaving those open, and running the lights at night to avoid the temp increase in the afternoon. At night the room (and the closet) would probably be closer to 72-74 degrees.
