600W HPS Indoor Soil - White Rhino/Cali Special/Bubba Kush/The Church/AK-47 (scrapped)
    #488670 - 10/17/10 12:09 AM (13 years, 5 months ago)

Starting journal a ways in so first part is from memory!

First grow I've had a serious part in, first growlog, but some experience on a previous 600w grow so bear with me! started under T12s and (hopefully tomorrow) will be under a 600W HPS. Not a lot of pictures yet besides some cellphone pictures but I get my camera back tomorrow!

I actually started building the room along with starting the grow so it was two projects at once. The room was built frame first then putting up drywall.

Strains:
4x White Rhino
3x California Special
1x The Church (FEM) =(
1x Bubba Kush
4x AK-47 (BAGSEED)

Veg lights:
10x 40w Cool White (4100k)

Flower lights:
600W HPS w/ digital ballast (just got it!)

Soil is HappyFrog and I have Grow Big, Tiger Bloom and suppose to have Big Bloom but the wallet went empty :crazy2:. Water is distilled because I have either hard well water or softened water

--------
9/12
Germinated in distilled water and solo cups. Painted the walls of the future room with drylock. Once of the corners has a damp spot I'm trying to get rid of.

9/13
All of them cracked by today so I put them in solo cups filled with some HappyFrog soil about 1/2 inch deep. Saturated before and after placing the bean in. Got a freebie little humidome so I stuck them in there.

9/16
Bought ~30 12' 2x4s and ~10 pieces of drywall. Lowes had some cheap T12 tube lights so I bought 4 hoods and 5 packs of bulbs. I got advice for my first grow at a local shop and he told me Cool white would be best, box says 4100k.

9/17
Got sprouts for the most part, looking healthy and cute little girls ()

9/21
Began building of the room. Built the frame around the I-beam and support pole. It is ~18ft x 5ft and went together pretty easy. Will be installing the door and drywall soon.

9/25
Got some growth not explosive or anything. The Church fem and 1 California Special still hadn't popped from soil. Some leaves were twisting weird and taco'ing (almost all the AK's).
AKs:

9/28
Built a sturdy frame for the door and installed it along with most of the drywall. Still need a ceiling (out of drywall) or at least light proof it somehow.

10/5
Plants are growing great. The White Rhino are blowing the others out of the water.

10/8
Got my beer-pong table out and decided to use that so I could use less chain. The T12s get kinda hot at certain parts of the hood so keeping my plants away from that.
Crappy pic to give you an idea:

Suggestions welcomed!

Finally got my camera back and had some pictures on it. I have the 600w going on 12/12 now. NO NUTRIENTS YET!! Transplanted to bigger pots on 10/9 with some fresh HappyFrog soil. Got a PH digital meter and been playing with it. Also hooked up 120mm fan I believe its called.

This is a grow on a time constrain because I'm leaving for a couple weeks in the end of December. That is why I am flowering them fairly short, I'd rather get quality than quantity so I want at least the minimum flower time.

10/13
I have the 600w going, finally light proofed with black plastic and got a heavy duty cord/timer.

10/15
Still growing OK, some discoloration that I'm keeping an eye on.

10/17
Some problems that may be different issues on different plants. Yellow discoloration/browing and twisting on some leaves. May be heat stress or being burnt by the light?

Also some distinct splotchs almost like something split and yellow on some leaves. My assistant () spilled some distilled water I was playing with and made real acidic testing my PH meter, right  on the leaves. Might be the culprit

Also possible Chlorosis? Along with the above mentioned discoloring.

Suggestions?

Thats definitely not chlorosis you're seeing, just some yellowing because they are hungry.

Thanks for a quick answer. I hadn't fed them because I read that most of Foxfarm soils are pretty nutrient rich. Here is a larger version of the picture for a closer look:
http://www.wolfness.com/up/files/100_1814.jpg

From what I can gather on the Foxfarm feeding chart I should be using Tiger Bloom and Big Bloom but I only have Tiger Bloom. Would it hurt to do a low strength of just Tiger Bloom or should they be used only together?

Thanks!
