To answer the question, yes it is common for buds to get too heavy for your plant to be able to hold them up on it's own.  Branches ca n snap, buckets can fall over, all sorts of unfortunate things can happen.

I personally don't like to use fishing line as was suggested above, mainly because if the cola is heavy enough the fishing line can dig into the stem and cut it.  I prefer a product called poly line.  It's really just polypropylene twine.  But rated up to 210 pounds and comes in 500 ft. rolls at home depot for like 10 bucks.  The last one I bought lasted me 4 years.

Something occured to me after reading a post here. I was just browsing and I couldnt tell you where this thing is but its making me think. first let me say that I went and used molasses, not a lot and I flushed  a couple of days later, I dont know, I guess I was stoned or something. Well, I was reading this post that said that only nubes would use molasses  and that molasses can rot out root systems. could it be thats what happened? OMG!!! I am so close to harvest I have to admit that I'm concerned. I flushed yesterday in the hopes that it would 1) get the bad stuff out and 2) settle the soil around my loose root ball. what do you think?

Nah, there's nothing wrong with using molasses.  They even recommend adding it in with Gravity when you use that.  I doubt that caused any problems.

Well, thats good to know. I figure Ive got another week or two at the most till harvest I guess I'm getting paranoid. between seeing my precious on her side and all the yellow splotches on the leaves, ( I was told recently that will happen sometimes, something about the plant using up all its own nutrients) oh yeah that reminds me, I have seeds. Not a lot but enough. I think I'll be busy for quite a while  I just have to learn patience.

This is after I got it off its side, once I flushed it good the soil settled nicely and secured it with some handy bungee cords it doesn't seem to have any ill effects. however I did discover that the pH had shot up/down (I'm still trying to wrap my simple brain around how that works) to 8.0, my neighborhood hydroponics guy said to use pH up, down. and to treat the water till it comes out at 6.5. He recommended one more flushing using said water. I realize that compared to most I'm a novice, but doesn't it seem that such a drastic change in pH could put  it in shock?
