Guerilla Grow questions for the experienced
    #295077 - 10/10/09 07:53 PM (14 years, 5 months ago)

Ok.

So, I've poked around the board for some time, and after a 9 mo hiatus I'm going back to my green roots as my belief in self-supply is important for me.  At this time an indoor grow-op does not seem to be convenient, i have a much larger domicile, though structurally I find myself lacking an easy place to work with.  I've worked with a few friends on outdoor grows, but they were outdoor of their houses and such.  Living in a metropolitan area makes life a bit difficult finding the right place to setup my grow.  Google Earth has been very helpful with this, but I had a few questions for the experienced.

Guerilla grows can be dangerous/risky, and also rewarding.

For those who have successfully guerilla grow op'd, how would you rate your locations distance from society?  Do you have to walk for several minutes? (or an hour or more?)  What are some things to look for to see if the path you are on is considered 'high traffic"?  Months prior to your grow do you go and tend the soil by adding your ferts so that they can break down in the soil, or do you fert upon necessity?  How often would you visit your op?  How do you know how to get back to the grow if you do not use GPS?

My belief is this, if that illegals can get into forests and grow football sized forests of marijuana, I can at least get 20-35 plants that will get me some serious smoke (for money and self supply)

I live in an area where it rains frequently from spring through fall,  with minimal flooding so I am not too concerned about the need to go and water the plants weekly

Well I'm not experienced as far as my stats on the growery show...but I have been growing outdoor bud for a while now.
As far as distances from "society" goes..I like to venture to the out skirts of towns. I go down roads that aren't commonly traveled...and when I do find a spot I pick a place near a brook or stream ( it's rains a bit where I am too but I like a little insurance)...I personally make sure it's a 30 minute walk into the woods tops....I just don't like walkin in that far.

I have  had consistent success with the same locations going on 3 years now. So I place most of the girls in clusters around that area.  I also plant in raspberry patches for two reasons..

1. in my experience deer will walk around and not through a field of thorny bushes

2. Most importantly in my area raspberry leaves don't turn color until late October or early November...so your plants won't stick out like a beat dick when all the other leaves have turned color and fallen.

So I suggest keeping an eye on the stuff that grows in your area and try to plant in and around stuff that will hide your plants from start to finish .
I don't really mess with the soil personally. I do bring in some soil to start my clones out..but it really isn't much. I use organic ferts on an as needed bases. But again this is my personal preference.

I don't use gps to remember where my grows are at..but that's just me. I hope you find at least some of this info of use. Good luck on your next outdoor grow bro...happy harvesting.
