Need some help with light and smell

Alright. So I have a grow box going on in my closet. Im planning on growing 3 plants to about a foot before flowering. What light would you guys recomend? I think Im going with a 400 watt HPS. Another issue for me is smell. How much odor will be put out?? Any simple ways to remove the majority of the smell? It will be alright if my room smells just a little, but the odor can not leave me room. Thanks for reading
