Beginner Growing Bag Seed
    #17636 - 05/02/08 08:54 PM (15 years, 10 months ago)

I have grown a plant once before, but it was eaten by what I believe was a deer or squirrel. I recently decided to try again to grow a plant, just to give my self something to do. I have the plants in a secluded part of some woods people rarely wonder through. I started by placing all of the seeds in a wet paper towel inside of a sandwich bag. After about 3 days the white part had started to come out of the shell, so I put the seeds in 3 different pots, 11 of the seeds sprouted, 3 died and 2 ended up being male (or so I think, but I'll talk about these in a few lines) They have been in the woods for about 4 or 5 weeks, and are only 2 inches at the smallest ( almost has more leaves than the rest) and the biggest is probably 4 inches tall, none of the plants have a full set of leaves yet, just 3 leaves each. I am assuming this is due to a lack of sun, I have 5 of the plants in a pot with a 1 foot radius and a single plant in a probably 5 inch pot. 2 of the plants have balls and dropped white powder on the leaves and look like the balls have opened up, I uprooted these and moved them. I think I am going to move the plants and find a spot where they will get more light and maybe put some egg shells on the soil. Thanks for the help everyone.

I don't know too much about this so someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but it sounds like the size of your pots are seriously limiting the growth of your plants.

So I should get some more pots and find a spot with some more sunlight? Is a pot that is about 6 inches in diameter large enough for one plant? I can't grow these too tall to keep them out of sight. I'm not looking to get a massive yield either, although it would be nice, but I'm just going to get the basic growing down first, then step up.

Atleast a gallon size and you still have a while till flowering if your going outdoor so there going to be some serious growth. You might want to find a good spot where you can plant them in the ground and let them just grow. Or you could jog the plants and keep them small and bushy. Good luck with the grow.

yeah, gallon+
more light+

and tie down your branches or top them...i dont know what jog means, but im thinkin its about the same thing.

easiest way is just get some wire hangers. make hooks on one end and straighten the rest. stick the straight end in the ground, and loop the hook over a branch. pull it down, but dont break it. you can gradually pull it down more little by little, day by day...
