The reason I suggest plastic is that its cool to watch the smoke roll thru and allows you to gauge the hit your about to take. But yeah you can make one with any tube. And cardboard gets soggy in snow.

You know you can do that with a empty toilet paper roll. Thats what I did in my younger years. I would much rather use a roll than a piece of plastic.
