I believe that shaking the plant material in the acetone pulls out too much gunk. IME, a quick wash (with no soak) does a much better job at pulling a quality product with great yields (15-25% by weight.) My method yields shatter oil instead of a very viscous liquid that is hard to work with, as this TEK does.

Your acetone should also be dried with anyhdrous MgSO4, filtered and then frozen for 4 hours. Acetone is hygroscopic, meaning it absorbs water from the air. This pulls fats, waxes, chlorophyll, etc, especially at room temperature. Frozen acetone (especially anhydrous) pulls all your cannabanoids and terpenes while leaving behind chlorophyll and other contaminants that warm acetone would pick up.

Honestly I have never made hash and just have a really simple question! Where do you get acetone because I am trying to make hash sometime!

Decarbing will bring out some potency you may enjoy. Pop the bud in the oven at 225-250 for 15-30 minutes and into the jar for your solvent to pour over. I've boiled my dry product in water for 30 minutes prior to decarbing in the oven for a cleaner product.
